Site Null Routed and No Support with MyHosting.com

Posted by michaelscai, 04-19-2016, 10:16 AM
Myhosting.com has suspended my subscription, VPS has been null routed it because it had a DDOS attack (last log was peak of 206mbits and 26167 packets/s for 6 minutes) Site has been down since last Saturday (3 days ago). 24x7 support line no answer, tried a dozen times, voice mail message is full and cannot leave a message. Requested support team to get me access to my VPS so I can backup my data, I will probably lose months of data because automatic backup failed a while ago. They were suppose to whitelist my ip address so I can remote into my machine, have been waiting for 2 days and no reply. first level support cannot do anything says has to be handled by operations team, operations team cannot be reached. I read from other posting this hosting company is shutting down, but seem like they are still running it except no support. Site has been down for days and potential loss of data and no response or help. what to do, what to do? Is there a different number to call or a supervisor to talk to?

You should be backing up your data if you knew their system wasn't working.

I agree, had automatic backup set up but it stopped running a while ago. still annoys me the site has no support, they could just white list my ip so I can remote to my vps, should just take a minute. been waiting for two days for this.

Does not sound good and there is really nothing you can do unless support comes back. Lesson learned. Find a better host and make sure you have your own backups next time and if they stop working, make fixing them you #1 priority.

A tough lesson in backups and why you must frequently test your backup system end to end, making sure you can restore backups too. The provider is of course is in the wrong for ignoring your support requests. Does your control panel not allow you to enable VNC access or serial console for your VPS?

I tried plesk, can't even connect now. does it allow me to do something even if ip is null routed?

Not Plesk but the VPS management control panel - e.g. SolusVM, Virtualizor, Virtuozzo - do you have access to one of these? If so, look for a VNC or serial console option for out-of-band access.

from where, host website or something I install? and how would I be able to run it if it's null routed.

It should be something the provider has given you access to, where you perform OS reinstalls, start/stop your VPS etc.

Try checking your email when you order VPS, in email is usually informed access to the control panel VPS or you can ask to your hoster provider (VPS panel not same as the VPS IP, so if IP VPS null route, the possibility VPS Panel still be accessed ) CMIIW

Hope you receive a reply from the host soon and you get your data back. At any cost, make sure you take regular backups of your data irrespective of whether your host assures backups or not. Good luck.

It's normal when after a DDOS attack hosting company nullrouted clients website, however they should answer to emails or give ftp access to files. Did you call them?

Right there in the first post.
