How can I login to a Linux VPS without using SSH (only using the VNC program)?

Is it possible to setup a Linux VPS with Ubuntu so that a SSH login isn't needed? So that the user can just login with a VNC app and get the desktop, in the same way you can with a Windows VPS?

You can just lock down ssh or allow only your ip.

I'd be accessing from a few different IPs, (home, 2 different work IPs) Can I allow multiple IPs? Or how do I lock down SSH?

Check x2go. it uses SSH on underlying layer, but offers nice GUI.

Install Gnome and then setup VNC server. You can use Tightvnc for the server and client.

you need to connect like remote desktop? To do so you can use x2go or nomachine, or you have to manually install a vnc server into your vps. Note that x2go uses ssh to first authenticate the connection

Of course you can do Disabled SSH and then install gnome desktop and enabled vnc server Yes, you can use a custom "AllowUsers" entry in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file to limit access to specific IP addresses for specific users If you wanna lock ssh you can custom port or blok any IP incoming to ssh except your own IP (use iptable)
