Ok hey guys im pretty new to servers and stuff so go easy on me lol, but my question is why im getting pings between 1ms and 70ms from the same site? i need the ping to be closet to 1ms as possible. is there a reason when i ping it i get 1ms then the next time i get 70ms? im using a server from vultr 16GBRam 4 cores. thanks for the help!

is that normal for a website like footlocker to have different IP's like that? other sites like adidas and nike that i tested always stayed with one IP and i always got 1MS

It may be the same domain name, but you can clearly see from the screenshots that you're pinging two different IPs. It's not uncommon for heavy traffic websites to use multiple IPs.

Footlocker is hosted on Akami - You're getting a different edge server each time you ping. It's just the load on their (busy) site being distributed across several edge servers.

Footlocker could be using a load balancing system, where it uses multiple servers, hence the IP switches when one sever has all the load its set to take.

is that why the ping is different? my server is in NJ, and Akami is pretty close to NJ, so when i get the 70MS ping, thats probably because its server across the counrty?

Yes, it's exactly that. You're getting the "most available" server responding. I'm in the UK, so when I ping Footlocker I get the Akami node in London - If that was super-busy I'd probably get pings from one in Western Europe. We're getting the same data and website, but from one of Akami's servers nearer and least busy to each of us.
