How to create Private/Custom Name Server?

Usually when you sign up a reseller hosting plan, what you need to setup in order to have your private/custom name server?
Here is few step that i know, please correct me if I miss out some thing.
Assume mydomain.com host at ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com (Alfa Server)
1. After sign up reseller plan(Beta Server), add ns3 and ns4 into WHM.
2. Go to domain name registrar create child name server ns3 and ns4, point to Beta Server IP
3. Go to Alfa Server's DNS zone for mydomain.com, add ns3 and ns4 A record, and pointed to Beta Server IP.
That all for the step? Do I miss out any step? or any wrong step?

is this mean when alfa server down, it will not cause any problem to other Beta server?
