skynethosting reviews

Posted by hqdrummer, 07-02-2014, 06:20 PM
Im a newbie and looking to get into reselling. I have a few clients each on different providers so i figure why not have them hosted with me As im looking and comparing it seems like skynethosting is much cheaper then all the other providers. Its like 24.95 for 500GB of SSD storage and 10,000 GB of bandwidth. Does anything else compare to that? Also i see some providers give you the MB/second and some just give you total bandwidth. Am i to assume that even though its 10,000GB per month that the transfer speed may be slow? Thanks for any help you can give me. TOM

No one else compares to that, but skynet support seems to be slow and unhelpful. Also many cpanel tools are missing such as site builder. I would recommend you go with a company providing less space but more reliable support. Although in the end, it is all up to you. Good luck

I plan to use skynethosting soon, but do see quite a lot of negative comment... I do agree a lot happy customer don't post review, only unhappy customer do. Overall I will recommend go for lower space plan and diversify to different server (same provider or different provide up to you) I practice not put all egg in one basket!

Make sure you that the Host is providing good client end support. Hosting is all about providing good support to the client. You don't need so much of bandwidth. Don't go for anything that is over sold. Choose a host who would help you setting up your reseller account / Website / provide Customer support.

The max re-seller plan has 1mbps max i/o per account, this is something to consider as after all one of the sell points is the 100% pure ssd which you will be limited to 1mbps of which will also affect network speeds making them virtualized to 1mbps too, this is something to consider if your clients are looking for a high speed experience of media rich content. hope this helps you. Also the support has nice people. Last edited by EjeetNetworks; 07-03-2014 at 11:25 AM. Reason: spelling.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Can anyone point me in the right direction when it comes to which providers to compare? I am looking for SSD's with good bandwidth speeds and a provider that gives me everything i need for billing. I would also like to resell domains and SSL certs. I would like SSD's because i want to tell my clients that their sites will perform faster if they move to my hosting. Some are sites with pretty mysql intensive web apps so im hoping that will speed those up as well.

Why don't you check the offers section ? What is your budget ?

Posted by hqdrummer, 07-03-2014, 02:29 PM
I did check in the offers section but thats where i found skynethosting. I was hoping someone had similar requests and found a good provider. I really would like to stay in the $25/month range to start off.

24.95 for 500 gb ssd space seems really oversold for me. They seem to have an active staff member here as well. Fill out these questions for people to mainly help you out with hosts and give their opinions -Server location (usa uk eu etc) -disk space (25GB to start but upgradeable) -Disk type (hdd or ssd) -bandwidth (250 gb normally double your disk space) -account limits (none or limited?) -any other features needed? (Weekly backups etc) If you need me to clarify any of the info above for you to post in the thread please ask and I will open it on my computer. & don't just jump in at the most disk space etc you can get as you probably won't use it for a while/ if at all. Have a look at how much you currently use/ sell and maybe have an extra 25GB -50 gb free with upgradeable plans etc.

If you rent a server, adding 500GB SSD should cost at least $50/month. That is total website traffic in a month. 10TB is a lot of traffic. Average small website uses less than 1GB bandwidth a month. Your account could be suspended long time before you can reach half of the bandwidth allocated.

I have the same thinking as you, but I would like to find a tools which can show the existing speed, and the result of moving to SSD server. with this method, you can easily convince your customer to move to you. any one know there is any tools can test the website loading? looking to get the differences when host at sas hdd and ssd hdd server.

Thanks S-Jack. Im looking for: - server in the USA - 25GB to 50GB to start - SSD disks - Probably 150-250 GB of bandwidth - At least 15-20 accounts - Weekly backups - Everything i need for billing - Ability to resell domains and SSL.

Is there a specific need for SSD? I would say if you get 50GB disk space to start then you'd get 100GB bandwidth Check out FreshRoastedHosting $30/mo 75GB Disk Space | 1tb Bandwidth, 100 account limit and it has Blesta billing system just their resellers force https:// so if you do yourdomain.com:2086 it will go freshroastedhost.com:2087 Domain reseller you can get a ResellerClub account ($25 deposit) or become a sub reseller.

In reality 25GB of storage and 50GB would be just fine for now. I have 2 specific clients that have resource intensive MySql Applications. I wrote the webapp for him but he had already designed the DB and its not optimized at all. It takes a long time to run the queries so i was hoping with SSD it would be faster. Also i want to move some of my clients off their hosting providers to my own

http://freshroastedhosting.com/reseller-hosting/ $19.99 - 30GB - 500GB - 20 account limit but no billing system

Posted by hqdrummer, 07-04-2014, 11:53 AM
Yea i saw that. I think i really need the billing to keep things organized. Is what im asking for a lot? Or is it doable if i just keep looking?

Posted by S-Jack, 07-04-2014, 11:59 AM
Well for an extra $10 you get double (little more) and a billing system. And also I believe they have some discounts on which makes it even cheaper!

From what I see we offer much more features than most of our competitors (if not all). Regarding site builders you might want to check our Site Builder Reseller Plans, where we offer RvSite Builder + Site.Pro Site builder and Site APP's. http://www.skynethosting.net/site-builder-hosting.htm

Posted by PT-Jay, 07-06-2014, 02:53 PM
Well the site builder hosting is missing all the other features like ssds, end user support , whmcs, etc. While other hosts have a one stop solution.

Posted by SkyNetHosting, 07-06-2014, 03:05 PM
I think you are getting this wrong. This is not the download speed this is the recommended default IO limits provided by Cloud Linux for disk IO as mentioned here. The download speed/Network port is set to 1000Mbps on all servers. http://docs.cloudlinux.com/index.html?limits.html

Posted by SkyNetHosting, 07-06-2014, 03:21 PM
Yes. Site builder reseller plans are hosted on special servers that are optimized for site builders. The Site Builder Reseller plans starts from $4.95/m so its not possible to offer WHMCS, End User support etc. at that price range. We only offer WHMCS, End User etc. on our normal reseller plans. I don't understand why you cannot offer those features on standard plans? Is it because of the cost?

Posted by EjeetNetworks, 07-06-2014, 04:05 PM
I understand the default limits, but this 'suggested/default/unconfigured' method of limiting onces data creates the idea of solid state hosting, it may as well be a 5400rpm drive as it would still be on a 1mbps i/o pipe, the only perk of the server having You are correct about the network port speed though was able to get 406mbps real world in the middle of the day on a created speedtest file on the actually reseller vip box. I never said you were a bad company just sharing my experience, I'm a client just would like to see the VIP server actually not as limited since a standard wordpress site even a basic 1-2 post one will use that 1mb i/o every update from the admin backend causing the server to see slower reloads in actual real world browsers.

Why not try some reputable business like Host Gator?

Posted by PT-Jay, 07-06-2014, 07:33 PM
Host gator is the worst possible host. It is an eig company , this means terrible servers, slow support and terrible uptime. Hostgator , I page, fatcow, justhost, hostmonster etc. are all eig.

The reason that we discontinued RvSiteBuilder on standered server were because there were only less than 1% clients using them, however there is better usage for sitepro, so we may offer it on VIP or Platinum Level Servers soon.
