If you don't put in some efforts, how can you success? Don't rely on others. Obviously you didn't do enough homework yourself.

I recommend Hostdime(they have a data center on India, Hostdime.in). They can help you for most technical operations. So you don't need to have many knowledge.

Hosting Business is overcrowded. Simple mistake could land you in trouble. Best is, You need to again opt for managed services so that you focus on business rather than technical stuff. Also, its always best to learn by yourself slowly. Otherwise, you will be again as an unplanned scenario.

Not sure why many are so negative; if someone wants to give it a try in the hosting industry a reseller plan is probably the best place to start, many did it that way and i am sure that will still work that way too. I am not familiar with hosting in India so i am not able to suggest you anything but if you really want to give it a try i would suggest continue your search sign up for a good reseller package (but keep in mind your hosting business can be only as good as your chosen partner). If you do not feel confident enough to provide your own support you can always look into reseller packages which come with end-user support or hire a third party to assist you with that. Bottom line; you have to start somewhere to learn about the business, you took the first step by asking your question here, i wish you well with your further endeavors.

I am sure you will need a lot of hand holding, a big company won't fit there. Search for mid-level company with good reputation.

You mean you lost a few Lakh Rupees in learning?

Posted by xtent host, 02-27-2014, 07:45 AM
Thanks for your inspiring words Mr.040, I had checked hostgator, they already started hosting in india also. So their reseller package is good, and also i had seen some good reviews about Hostgator. Whats your opinion about Hostgator????...

Posted by XiNiX, 02-27-2014, 07:56 AM
HostGator is Good & Reliable. But personally i would recommend you a Managed VPS, with WHM , that would really give u the advantage of learning plus business.

HostGator used to be good, then they were taken over by EIG. So now I, and many others, highly recommend against using HostGator.

whats your opinion 040??

xtent host, I do not understand why you insist on an Indian hosting provider when you can go in for stablehost, mddhost, hawkhost etc's reseller packages that have good reviews on these forums. You wont find reviews or many Indian hosting providers but if you still insist, some people say znetlive.com is decent having used them quite some time ago. They provider hosting on Indian as well as American datacenters.

As i said before i don't have experience with any hosts in India so its not possible for met to comment on that; i think you will now need to start with reading reviews of the different companies offering reseller hosting in India. You could also opt not to have the server in India but offer your users access through Cloudflare they are going to offer their services in India as well. Which means that even though the server may not be in India the content would be loaded as close to your visitors as possible. According to this article CloudFlare will be offering its services in India at 2 locations; although i do not know as from when; http://blog.cloudflare.com/2013-refa...ing-on-the-gas ; I am not sure how fast you want to start but its always a good idea to look around at different options. Keep in mind that you should not choose the closest location for you, but the closest location for your clients visitors; if you aim to host mostly websites which are visited by users from India it is of course important you choose your service in that region. However if you are Indian based but most of the sites you plan to host are targeting other countries you should see what is the best location for you in such a case. Hope this helps you starting

Reliable Hosting, Support, Services and Infrastructure hosts are high in India. If you think you get a hosting at budget prices, believe me you will runf or your money! May be you should target the nearest location to India if you are so concerned. East Coast - US, UK etc. Cost-wise you will get benefited and also Infrasturcture is much better as equipped Datacenters. My personal opinion based on experiences. I would avoid any EIG services this time.

I would agree with stablehub. The most entry level dedicated in an Indian datacenter like CTRLS starts at about $156p/m. No clue or reviews about their infrastructure, support, services, etc.
