Hostgator reseller alternative recommendations

Posted by Woofles, 12-03-2013, 01:24 PM
Can someone please give a reseller provider recommendation, as I need to get away from Hostgator as soon as possible. Throughout all the problems, I could persevere because of their good support, but that seems to be past tense now. I found a new start-up offering reseller packages at good costs, but they only had 99.5% SLA, which I found odd as 99.99% seems to be market standard. Price isn't my top priority, stability and stellar 24/7 support is what I'm after. Any recommendation would be appreciated.

How many accounts do you have on your reseller account? Are there any additional features you're looking for as well as a location preference?

Its hard to recommend any specific host. I suggest you to check Reseller Hosting offer section, short list few hosting company, and then search for their review.

I currently have about 20 accounts on it. I don't have any preference towards any specific location, I would just like to get 50GB HDD space with roughly 500GB bandwidth along with WHM and CPanel with 24hour support, preferably live chat but that could be offset with quick response time. From there I would probably go the VPS route, but for now a reseller account makes sense. I just stumbled upon quickpacket.com's reseller offerings, any thoughts on them? I haven't heard of them before.

Colour me impressed, I opened a ticket with a few questions, got a response in 5min. To give you an idea why this thread came into being, I tried contacting hostgator with a question regarding a service upgrade. I fell in a que, 30min remaining. When I was at the front and the bell rang, the chat page never opened and I got kicked off. Repeated this process three times and decided to look for another host. My questions towards you were pretty much answered in the email. My short list thus far is QuickPacket.com. Will still be conducting some research, for the sake of being thorough. But I will be in touch, as your response time was awesome.

Hello you can check JoneSolutions, they have a few better features that HG like ngnix for static assets, cloudlinux, daily r1soft backups (you can access snapshots directly from Cpanel) etc. I am one year with them, uptime is fantastic, but do not have there any dynamic site or a site that is a bit more "critical".. etc. And do not know still how good is their support hahah... opened one ticket only... You can also check WebHostingBuzz (been a week with them at UK location, all well so far, live chat support was there when there was a problem with cpanel/addon domains - they resolved it). Thank you

Thanks for all the responses. Regarding the price or package I'm after, I'm thinking along the lines of something similar to what CrocWeb is offering: https://www.crocweb.com/reseller-hosting.html So far I'm attracted to Crocweb with their SSD hosting.

I have 50+ sites that were at Hostgator for a lot years but moved a few months back. I tried out a few recommended here and Croc was one. Croc was not good for me because I have some clients that have old scripts that had problems or old php forms that didn't work. Had problems with most of my installations of OpenCart as well. Got a lot of "check with the software developer" answers on my tickets when trying figure out why my sites crashed after moving. Moved to Bigscoots and most everything worked, they even fixed an old site of mine that was really not a problem resulting from their hosting. I have had tickets answered in less than a minute and questions are always answered. After you have been with Hostgator you will be blown away with the difference in the support at Bigscoots. My problems at crock were due to php version conflicts. At Bigscoots you can choose which php version you want to use in the cpanel and update the settings yourself, couldn't do this at crock so my clients that didn't have everything up to date were all having problems. They also have daily backups you can restore yourself. When I was HG I had to pay for every backup and then put in a ticket. Best host I have been with so far

TurnKey Internet has a special going on right now for resellers. Cheapest is 50 GB / with 500GB Bandwidth for $7.50 a month (for life) with WHMCS. They respond within 5-10 minutes on average. It's pretty tight, the WHCMS offer enticed me. Save $7 + get reseller? Can't go wrong No, I don't work for them, I'm just a customer.

Does not crocweb have cloudlinux in place ?IF they have you should have a feature were your clients can select what php version they want. You should of asked them to enable it. Its very strange they do not have that enabled I have just looked at their website and the do have this feature. Mulitple PHP Versions Our servers are packaged with multiple versions of PHP. Select between PHP 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5 from your control panel. Last edited by Ninjapanther Hosting; 12-09-2013 at 06:02 PM.

I didn't know they had it, was with HG before that and didn't have it there. If they did have at the time they could have mentioned that though as I had tickets in on several accounts that were all having problems. Instead they advised me to go back to the script developer just as HG would do so I went to a new host. That is the difference with Justin at BigScoots, I only have to ask a question once or explain and issue I am having once and the problem is resolved without going back and forth with multiple tickets. He goes the extra mile to help you figure out the problem even if it has nothing to do with the service he is providing. Thats how you keep your clients happy, who else does that? Don't think the guy sleeps either because he always responds right away

Anyone can clam near 100 percent SLA...Its best to see when their domain was registered and do a Google search on it to see whats revealed.
