Interworx to cPanel account migration

Posted by PeerWatcher, 07-28-2008, 04:19 AM
I'm in the process of moving my interworx clients over to my new cpanel system. I'm experiencing issues because cPanel doesn't have a script that access interworx backups, so the process is manual. Considering that, I need to know how to properly do this, basically I need to know which SSH commands to execute in order to make sure everything is moved over properly. I'm assuming I'm going to have to make an archive of each home directory, then manually restore it. But, I need that archive to maintain each files permissions. Then I'll need to manually dump each database and mysql user / password information, and restore on the new server into the proper account. Basically, I need to know how to make an archive of a directory ex; /public_html/ WHILE maintaining each file and folder's permissions (ex; 777). Also, I need to know how to properly backup the mysql databases and user / password information. If you have any information or can assist me with this, I am willing to pay for your time. Please let me know, Thanks!!

This wont work at all ^^, The only solution is to migrtate each account manually.

1. Go to public_html of each user, Zip all the data. 2. Mysqldump each individual DB wget all these .zip and .sql on target server, create use accounts, and then unzip specific files in their respective public_html and mysql the DBs. How may websites in total you need to transfer?

Woooo that doesn't work. I did that but apparently the traditional archiving doesn't maintain document permissions. Meaning, when the clients site is moved, it doesn't work because multiple files are not properly CHMOD'd. I need to maintain the user set permissions.

Well I have always done that, and experienced that zip archieving maintains all file permissions, I have been doing this frequently for last 2 years.

I think the file permissions were retained, but the user/group Apache/PHP is running under may be different. Also PHP may be running in different modes.
