Server Specifications

I was wondering if someone could tell me what they would recommend as far as server size, bandwidth, etc, for a file storage website. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need a lot of RAM or a fast CPU to store files. You could probably get away with 256mb of RAM and the slowest CPU offered. Your bandwidth will depend on how often these files are being accessed. Usually you can start low and increase this when necessary.

Well, it totally depends. If the script is coded real good then Dual Xeon 2.4Ghz with min 2gb ram and 2 x 200gb hard drive would be a good hardware.

I though agree to simon .... but that would be the best if users are great in number.

I think you should at least take something like P4 2.4 Ghz and 512 MB RAM. Even if you only want to provide files, your httpd also needs some ressources
