Last Minute Recommendations

Posted by madlynx, 01-31-2013, 10:35 PM
I'm going to sign up for a new reseller hosting plan before midnight, when the promos are supposed to end. I've narrowed down my options to 3 hosts/plans: Eleven2.com (R100 plan, w/ free upgrade to R200 plan = 200GB space/2TB bandwidth/unlimited accts) for $20/mth.GreenGeeks.com ("Seed" plan = unlimited space/unlimited bandwidth/max 10 accts) for $20/mth.9xhost.info ("Expert" plan = 260GB space/2.8TB bandwidth/max 100 accts) for $22/mth. This is my third attempt at finding a host which doesn't suck as much as the one I've been with since 2004. Even though I'm leaning towards one, all three look pretty good. There is no long term contract, so a bad choice won't be the end of the world. I'm aware that the best choice for me may not be the best choice for someone else, but I would appreciate hearing some personal opinions or experiences before signing up. Thanks.

Eleven2 has a number of reviews on these forums, I'd recommend you run a search to find them. I haven't heard of either of the other providers though. I'd advise against #2 though - using an "unlimited" reseller provider is just asking for trouble

In my honest opinion choosing those kinds of hosts would give you a one way ticket to a road of trouble & headaches. It sounds to me like you like hosts that offer high amounts of disk space & bandwidth. That's fine and all as long as it's adequate pricing but with those costs, that's a huge red flag that all of those hosts you've listed overloads & oversells their servers to death, especially Eleven2 who's notoriously known for doing so. I promise you that in one way or another you'll regret choosing those kinds of hosts. The majority of web sites use around 150mb-450mb of data, you won't be needing all that space and you're better off with a quality host such as MDDHosting, Innohosting or EZPZHosting with realistic limits.

That last minute means you already did your homework right? You said this is your third host. Maybe you should consider changing the way you look for a host?

Have you hosted with Eleven2 that you continue to make these assumptions? Our servers run Litespeed, cloudlinux and are high end machines. The majority of our clients will agree that our hosting is very fast. Our reseller limits are not as outrageous as you claim.

I used to use your shared hosting back in the day to host a couple of my friend's websites. Your reseller limits are above the vast majority of other companies who are claimed to have a quality service and additionally you cannot deny that you're overselling your servers to death as one of your plans offers "999,999GB" of disk space.

Is it the offers and pricing alone that interest you in those webhosts?

Eleven2 Seems to be good and their support is also good. Not unlimited reseller so we can trust them than greengeeks. they provide WHMCS,and Sitebuilder and cloudflare with reseller packages. so many features and i think some of their servers are running on litespeed. which makes them far betterthan others. greengeeks is not a bad company. their shared hosting is excellent with unlimited features. but dont know ,they retain it in reseller. Support is also good. i dont even heard of 9xhost.info. Hope they are good.

Don't go with eleven2. Just search some posts for eleven2 and you will see that they refuse to give client's site backups when they terminate them. Their CEO thinks it is acceptable to blackmail customers too as well as call them fools.

It's more than a month when the thread was published and by now madlynx would have already chosen a host. @madlynx : Would you mind telling everyone about the host whom you've chosen as a host. It'd be further helpful to all if you'd also state the factors you considered to take the decision.

It's been less than a week only.
