Posted by sirius, 05-09-2012, 02:40 PM | Over the past year, I've been looking to consolidate a number of personal project sites to a single reseller account. We originally chose Eleven2, which turned out to be a mistake, but I'll get in to that in another thread.
In the end, a bit over a month ago, we migrated all of the sites over to MDDHosting - http://www.mddhosting.com/. They are a bit more expensive than some of the other hosts I looked at, as well as, they limit resource usage a bit more than what I thought should be normal. What I came to find out is, they do this because they know what they're doing. This was a good thing! The server I am on is stable, load is what I'd consider good and the network seems to be very responsive.
Support - this is where MDDHosting excels. Mike (owner) is very responsive - even at the oddest hours of the night. In the 15-20 minutes he sleeps each night, there are other support resources online who are available to assist. I had to use support a few times after the migration and found that they were very quick to respond and almost always offered a first contact resolution of the issue I was reporting.
Although it's only been a bit over a month, I'm very happy with the service at MDDHosting and look forward to being a customers of theirs for the foreseeable future.

It is a good feeling when you know you're hosting a Community Liaison. Sorry for such a delayed response, somehow I missed this review initially .

Posted by EthernetServers, 08-02-2012, 07:48 AM | Great to hear another positive review of MDDHosting. I was considering using them a few months back, but in the end went with another host since I found a very appealing offer.
How are you finding MDD now baring in mind a couple of months have passed?
Mike - I just noticed that on your VPS page, it says "CentOS 5 x86_64", yet when you hover over the green question mark to the left, it says the VPS' have CentOS 6. Nothing major but I thought I might flag it up.

Posted by MikeDVB, 08-03-2012, 02:08 PM | Yeah, we had it on CentOS 6 for a bit, but was having some issues with that distro that we're investigating so we rolled it back to 5. I'll see that the tooltip is updated, and I appreciate you bringing it to my attention.

Posted by sirius, 08-03-2012, 08:11 PM | Geeeez.... honestly didn't realize it had been this long already.
Service is great, network is great, uptime is great. They recently upgraded / migrated the server I'm on, mentioning something about stability issues on the existing server. I never noticed an issue - never saw an inkling of downtime or resource constraints.
Support responses are good - I get spoiled when Mike responds to them. I have little patience for first tier support, so when I've had to send in a support issue, 9 times out of 10, Mike answers the query and I'm taken care of.
We consolidated our sites to MDD from a VPS we had. It's a bit of an adjustment to go from a VPS to a reseller account, as you lose some access to what I'd consider key features. This is not a dig on MDD, in fact, everyone with a reseller or shared account at any host has these same restrictions. I miss some of the control (anyone sensing control issues?) but I don't miss the monthly bill for the VPS.
All in all, this is one of the few vendors I've used that I'd give a straight up 10 out of 10. I'd highly (and do) recommend them to anyone looking for a solid reseller account.

Is shell access allowed on your reseller accounts?
Thanks!

Posted by Trip, 12-07-2012, 01:51 AM | Is that....wait....is it? No! It couldn't be! Common sense?!?! omg.... it is!!!! Alert the authorities, cancel school, shut down the internet. We have a winner!
My vote to sticky this and the relating guides at the top of EVERY sub-forum on WHT.
...Of course, if everyone followed that logic, you'd cut the number of complaint threads down by 75% overnight. Probably not good for WHT's overall hit count.

Posted by sirius, 01-18-2013, 01:47 PM | Another quick update... received an e-mail from abuse@<> the other day informing me that one of the accounts in my reseller container had an outdated version of Wordpress installed.
Now a majority of folks really wouldn't care about that but I thought it was pretty cool. In fact, I appreciate it quite a bit. I contacted the customer and had them upgrade the installation in a matter of minutes.
I don't know of any other hosts who will proactively do something like that so my kudos to them.
I continue to be a very happy customer of MDDHosting.
