Hostdime.In Reseller OR US reseller?

Posted by farhan713, 11-20-2012, 03:32 AM
hi guys, My budget is around $25 per month for 40GB and I want reseller hosting. I'm based in Mumbai, India. I was looking at hostgator.in and hostdime.in . Seeing a lot of negative about hostgator.in I was looking more towards hostdime. I had a few questions about Hostdime, it would be really nice if someone who has used their reseller could answer them. 1. Are their reseller servers fast for high traffic websites(not high enough to need a vps or dedicated server)? 2. Are their reseller servers fast for high cpu usage sites(not so high that they need a vps/dedicated server)? 3. Are their reseller servers fast for database intensive websites(again something that can be accomodated in a shared hosting environment)? 4. Is their support resolution time good on reseller servers? 5. Do they have a good system in place so that if a customer of another reseller is using a lot of resources, my customers will not be affected. I have heard good things about stablehost, crocweb, ezpz, innohost etc. on the forums too. Do you feel anyone of those or some other company would be a better fit for me? I dont want a reseller account with a client limit set for what I am paying since I'll be hosting many small clients too. The main features I am looking for is for my clients are: 1. Best possible uptime. 2. Quality hardware and stable fast servers. 3. Friendly and Fast support response and resolution. All my clients are Mumbai(India) based and i get upto 50ms latency with Indian data centers and around 250ms for the US ones. Hosting in India would be an advantage but not with the compromise with the above features. My main concern is that my clients have a quality and positive hosting experience. Also overselling enabled would be a nice add on but not a deal breaker since most of my clients dont use the allotted resources. Your valuable experience and advise would be appreciated. Thanks everyone for reading. Last edited by farhan713; 11-20-2012 at 03:37 AM.

Hostdime is a really good and corporate company and I can recommend them without any doubt. The best thing is they run their own hardware and infrastructure and you can be assured of quality support from them.

Thanks Kushal for the input. Do you feel the quality of service and support of hostdime.in is on par with their international counterparts?

Posted by Host4Geeks-Kushal, 11-20-2012, 06:14 AM
AFAIK their support in India is also handled by their international support team.

Thank you for contributing! To provide further clarification, all Level 1 and 2 Sales and Support for HostDime India are handled by our staff in India, but backed by the full HostDime.com, Inc. global corporation. Our US based support assists wherever the India branch requests and also handles some more advanced support issues as well as data center-level problems with servers located in the US. Thank you again for your kind words and I hope this helps farhan713 with his question!

You won't go wrong with Hostdime!

Thanks for the clarification Denis. The infrastructure at your setup seems solid. Just concerned about some other aspects with related to the reseller servers. Hope some users will chip in.

In my opinion, HostDime would be by far a better choice. Not only because they own their own hardware, they have support that surpasses HostGator in every aspect and unmatched quality.

Posted by Host4Geeks-Kushal, 11-20-2012, 10:30 AM
Could you please elaborate. What aspects?

Posted by farhan713, 11-20-2012, 11:40 AM
The numbered questions in the opening post. Wanted someone who has used their reseller hosting to answer them.

Ive been using ezpz the last few years... Solid company for resellers.. I sleep well and night and do not have to worry about client websites.

I recommend Hostdime.

how is their support quality for end users? Are the fast to respond and resolve the issue?

Posted by bops, 11-22-2012, 08:37 AM
Hi, i dont know why hostdime has such a good reputation on WHT, thats what led me to purchase reseller hosting from them about a year back, and here what i notice. overloaded servers, websites take ages to load. support is largely canned responses. asking for help from the us division doesnt help much. thanks

Hello bops, Do you have any tickets I can check from your experience with us? I understand this was over a year ago but I am always happy to look into situations that were not handled well by our International branches and work with them to resolve any issues. Also, please note our branch in India has had a large amount of growth and has strengthened greatly in the past year so your experience may be indicative of the branch prior to this growth and maturing. Thank you,

Thanks bops for your review. I can see you are still hosted with them on their US reseller server. Is that a reseller account? How is your current experience with them?

Posted by bops, 11-22-2012, 02:36 PM
You are right, I am still hosted with them on one of their US reseller servers managed by their indian branch. when i joined them, we had a problem that took a while to resolve - a poorly tuned sql setting was causing sites to load slowly. It was finally resolved by escalating the issue to their US branch. Everything was fine till last month, when i started noticing slow load times again, and also an increase in server loads. Upon pointing it out, India support has been consistently maintaining that this is a normal situation, and have tried to upsell me to VPS/dedicated server. They have also in the last month said the server is being abused, backed up etc etc. They have also offered to move me to another server, but have also said that this may happen again. My point being, I host only about 20 very low traffic sites with them. I am not a web hosting business. Why should i have to suffer if others are abusing their system. I also have used/ am using shared services with various other providers and have not seen this happen anywhere. The server loads have gone up so much now, that now accessing a site hosted on this server during peak times in India ( 11am to 6pm) will involve a 5-30 second wait. I tried escalating this to US support, where i was told that i should contact India support - duh. After insisting i got a canned upsell response from Alex F. ( one of the high ups, dont remember his post) thats it. Now its on WHT, maybe they will resolve it since its public, who knows. On the positive side, their uptime is fantastic, and support is polite. On the downside, their server is either overloaded or poorly configured. In a nutshell, if this is not resolved, i will move.

Hi Dennis, Thank you for offering to look into this. My problems are actually current, and not from a year back. Maybe it s possible that the growth of your Indian division is leading to overcrowded servers. Anyway I sincerely hope that your intervention in this helps resolve the problem, My ticket number is 372842. Thanks again

Posted by HostDime Dennis, 11-22-2012, 05:23 PM
Hello bops, I have taken ownership of your ticket and moved it to my escalated management queue. Please look for a response there with further details in the near future as I analyze the server on which you are hosted as well as the circumstances surrounding your issue. I greatly appreciate you reaching out to me and I assure you that I will get this issue solved for you, working with our India branch to ensure that the service you are receiving is up to our very high standards. Thank you and have a great day,

Ok, so heres the update to this mess. Dennis took over ownership of my tickect, rebooted the server, and uninstalled cloudlinux from the server i was on. the server load then went upto 240. I then requested hostdime india to shift me t a new server, for the whole day sites were sluggish or inaccessible. After the migration, i noticed a few mysql databases had got corrupted, not expecting any useful support from HD, I manually restored the sites again. Yesterday i noticed that Hostdime india had forgotten to update the new server i was on with zone file for my private nameservers. I asked them to do so, and they did. Today I notice that intodns is telling me that two sets of A records are being reported. This means that a bunch of people are still getting directed to the old server, which is half dead from the load, so they get errors. This problem has been now going on for almost two months, and HD has handled it poorly. I honestly suggest that you do not buy from HD India right now as they are not sorted out with their own internal processes. i had chosen hd for peace of mind, and that the opposite of what im getting now. anyway the new serve is fine now, but i guess its just a matter of time till they overload it and the problems start again.

With Dennis taking over our ticket, I had assumed things were sorted out smoothly. By overloaded servers you mean all their reseller servers or reseller servers in India?

Posted by bops, 11-27-2012, 02:45 AM
i wouldnt know about all their servers, but the one i was on earlier was definitely overloaded.

Posted by swatkats, 11-27-2012, 04:52 AM
Hello, I have used Hostdime.in Reseller. The Servers are Fast Enough to handle medium Traffic Sites. Although, the support has been Neither Good nor Bad for me. There are cases where they asked you to buy Separate IP's to Create Name Servers. The HD Dudes Attending your Tickets/Chats have no Knowledge to answer you're Question at the spot itself. They Refer to the management Everytime and Get back to us. This was my Experience. Anyways If you have any issue with Hostdime.in After Signing up with them, Remember Manny Vivar is there to assist. Very Helpful Hostdime Boss! Last edited by swatkats; 11-27-2012 at 04:56 AM.

Hello bops, I am sorry to hear you feel this way about your service from us. As I told you many times in the ticket, during my work the load did elevate due to various procedures we were running on the server to update and modify various services, but since the updates, the load on your old server has been manageable. Also, I understand you had some issues after the transfer, but I wish you had actually let us know about them in your ticket, as we would have gladly assisted you with them. Deciding to fix issues yourself rather then reporting them because you assume service will be poor is not fair to us as your service provider. Transfers can be very difficult, especially reseller ones in cPanel, and we always do our best to ensure all records get updated properly, but this is no exact science. I do see that you let us know about some of the issues you were having, and all of which were fixed within a reasonable amount of time. Again, I am sorry you feel you are having a bad experience with our India branch at this time and we are striving day after day to provide you the excellent service that not only you expect, but deserve from a HostDime.com, Inc. worldwide branch. We will continue to work with you through your tickets and on the server you left as well as the server you are on now to ensure proper stability for years to come. Thank you again and have a great day,

Thank you for your reply, and please dont get me wrong i think hostdime is a great brand, and i respect and admire the values you guys have, and i think its amazing that you take personal care on this forum. The load on the old server is really none of my business any more. I did mention that i appreciated your offer to move me to a new server. I had far less trouble moving into HD, when i had backed up everything myself, than in this internal transfer that was carried out by your people. I had no option but to fix matters myself, when i was told to talk to my website developer (that's us) regarding the corrupted databases. In fact i mentioned only one in my ticket, but there were more. I also did not expect your guys to overlook the dns issues, and I didn't expect i would need to tell them to fix each one individually. yes I agree that they were fixed promptly after i notified support of the problems, and i did leave a 4/4 rating because i got true tech support on chat itself. I do not intend moving now as i have been dealing with this for the last 4 days, and don't want to go through it again. I sincerely feel HD can bring a lot of much needed professionalism to the Indian hosting scene, and wish you all the best with your growth plans here. I just hope that the new server I am on does not get overloaded and out of control like the last one. thank you and have a great day too

Dennis, I really appreciate your follow up with customers having issues and willing to work with them to sort them out.

Hostdime reviews are quiet good. I might try them soon.

Posted by bops, 01-17-2013, 09:44 AM
ok, here's an update to the hostdime saga. i was moved to a newer stable server, which overthe last couple of days started showing a heavy loads again. and for the last 2 hours plus my sites have been unreachable with all packets dropping at the HD datacenter. So ive opened a ticket, number 611787. it took HD india 45 minutes to come up with vague "there is a abuse case on the server" my sites are still unreachable. Im now just waiting for this server to start dying on me. Dennis, if your reading this... maybe you want to take some action that doesnt expose your server to abusers every few weeks? and maybe sort out the packet loss probelms that others have been reporting too?

Posted by HostDime Dennis, 01-17-2013, 09:59 AM
Hello bops, Thank you for providing your ticket ID. Please see it for further details and please request management attention there should you require it, not via WebHostingTalk. Have a great day!

Posted by bops, 01-17-2013, 10:01 AM
but Dennis, management attention is never provided when i ask for it from the ticket, also my sites have been unreacheable for 2+ hours now.. have a nice day too

Posted by HostDime Dennis, 01-17-2013, 10:09 AM
bops, I will gladly research any situations where you requested management attention and it was not delivered as that is against our policy. And again, please see the ticket for more information regarding your technical issues. Thank you and have a great day,

Posted by bops, 01-17-2013, 10:34 AM
Well, thank you for assisting and fixing the problem. strangely I cant find the canned responses I once got from Alex F that gave me the impression that management was difficult to reach via ticket system. I do hope that I do not have to bother you or even have to raise any tickets at all. however it is strange that the your techs on the ticket system take 45 minutes to respond, and a post on WHT gets a response and solution in a few minutes. thanks again for your support.

Best way to use US Server of HostDime order from hostdime .in website. Support and Server Uptime was good when we used their services for a long time period.

Posted by hasel, 01-18-2013, 10:33 AM
In the past I've read a couple of bad reviews for indian based servers. slow servers, lousy support etc. But guys in the mother company are seen constantly trying to make things right.
