files from terminated account?

Posted by hofi, 02-19-2012, 06:41 PM
Hello I have(had) a small reseller WHM hosting, with several domains. Now, after misunderstandings and bad communication (no answer)with the seller, he terminated my whm account, without contact me. Still now, no contact to the whm seller. Is it possible, that the files are still on the server? Has someone the possibility to get the files, or some backup. Server IP is 64.62.148.103 Newest fils I need are from domain/acount "freeteam" Thanks for your help Marco

If the account was terminated and back ups purged, then unfortunately the chances are slim. Still worth asking the host if they have the backups.

No Pay... No Play... What was the reason for termination?

If the host creates backups, they should likely hold them for 30 days (hopefully). I would certainly ask them for it.

I started with this host 2008 ("jackpothost"). There I manage some domains for friends and myself. At the beginning all was ok, also support guys did mostly good job. But at the moment I dont do web stuff every week. Termination problem was for sure paying. I had a automatic monthly credit card paying via paypal. Last December I updated new credit card in paypal. From then the automatic paying didnt work anymore. I several times tried to get in contact with the seller, to make a new automatic paying, but I had no contact. Time was going, and now in the account manager I see that my account is terminated. I also saw that the "jackpothost" has bad reviews.

Sorry to hear about your hosting provider not communicating with you to help solve your problems. If your account was terminated there is little you can do, as providers usually do not make individual backups of their clients. It's always important to make your own backups and download them at least to your own PC to protect yourself from complete information loss.

The only way is to contact the reseller owner to get your files back. I think your files should be present in the server if backups are enabled in the server.

Feel Sorry on your loss, Ask your provider for backup, if he have. As a provider, not a good idea to terminate account immediately after subscription expired. Just suspend the account. Anyways The only way is to contact them and ask them for backup, and in future, do backups on your own

Yes, i think you ought to get at least the backup from the hosting provider and fingers crossed that they do give you the backup

If you had backups then you could get the files from that but if the account was deleted and the backups deleted as well you may not be able to recover the files.

Here here. Can't preach that enough. If you care about your data, do you OWN backups, and somewhere besides where your servers are. Just makes sense. What if a plane crashes into the building? Tornado? Flood? Earthquake? Postal employee? Server or account loss should be a nuisance, not a business killer.

To my knowledge, a whm account that has been terminated, there's many possible reasons. Normally your account gets suspended if you don't pay, and you have to pay to get acces back. In this case only the person who terminated your account would be able to get your old files, so in your case you might be in a big problem.

Please can you share the reasons for your provider to suspend your account in this way, if you still have the most reasonable communication is to try to reach a negotiation for the reactivation of your account and your data recovery
