swf to avi on linux?

Posted by Darvil, 10-20-2009, 05:57 PM
Any recommendations on how to proceed this? First I tried going from swf to mpg by using http://www.unixuser.org/~euske/vnc2s...2swf.html#edit and I was thinking of going from mpg to avi using ffmpeg. The problem is that swf to mpg ran up with an error. I was wondering if anyone know of the best way to proceed with this. There is also audio on the swf files. Thanks for reading!

How about going via flv instead: edit.py -o output.flv input.swf ffmpeg -i output.flv output.avi

that works.. the only problem is that when I run the edit.py it only does 1 frame. Comes out way too small. Is this a bug? or am I suppose to give more information on that?

Are you sure everything you want is in the .swf? The more common situation is to have some kind of player.swf pulling video.flv from the server, in which case, of course, you'd need to convert video.flv instead. If it really is .swf conversion you need and you're willing to go to the dark side, there are plenty of Windows converters...

thanks for that. I will double check on that. Can you give some tips on the windows option if we do that route?

Does anyone know if that edit.py only converts uncompressed swf file? I'm thinking perhaps its because the file I'm using is compressed? It seems there is no way to convert swf to avi on linux. How unfortunate.

To uncompress the file you could try flasm: Sorry I've no experience with any of the Windows programs but GIYF

in windows swf2avi worked. for linux, i've tried to convert swf to avi by using FFMPEG with the Xvid library. For example, the following command should do the trick: Last edited by fsmj; 12-22-2009 at 11:06 PM.
