Reseller Plan for about 10 domains?

Posted by Player9, 12-28-2011, 02:03 PM
After being with Site5 for years, I have come to a crossroads, where they say my modest site is taking too many hits and I need to find another hosting provider. Can someone recommend a hosting company with a 14-20GB space plan that has decent reliability? I have less than 10 subaccounts I will be moving. I have two domains that average less than 4000 hits each month each. Thanks.

Price range is $10 to 22 dollars a month.

Why don't you just use a shared account with add on domains?

I would recommend you checkout TMZHosting.com or Eleven2.com they both have amazing support and quality servers. They both always have promotions running to save you money. 4,000 hits each month is nothing so that shouldn't be a problem at almost any company!

I have a few customers that I resell too. From searching it looks like CrocWeb, HawkHost look to be possible choices.

Gotcha. You should checkout Innohosting as well. A little out of the price range specified, but they have great reviews.

Possibly because they want cPanel for each account lol! They might not all be ran by the same person.

True. At first I was thinking the OP was possibly a freelancer that hosts client sites.

Did they give you any more information? Is your website running on any kind of script/software? Even websites that only receive a few hits can use a lot of server resources if they're poorly coded.

So far, what it has come down to is that spiders are hitting my main site too aggressively. I have modified the robots.txt file and blocked some spiders completely, but that does not seem to be enough. At this point, I have to move off of Site5.

Stablehost and Stream101 are my current go-to suggestions. Those hosts have the quality of support and uptime I need and want for Linux reseller plans in North America (USA). The support speed/quality is especially important for reseller accounts. You don't want to be stuck in the middle, getting yelled at by a hosted person while you yourself are waiting for additional help.

I'd also vouch for Stablehost, they are really stable , though they don't have a shared hosting plan with so much disc space but I don't think they'll deny you if you ask for a custom plan.

Eleven2.com Check their thread for promotions (It's sticky in the "Reseller" section)

I don't like them. I had some downtime and they are kinda slow with tickets.

I've never heard that complaint about slow ticket replies, we answer all tickets within 3 hours, usually less then 10 minutes. If you had a technical support ticket longer then 3 hours old due to a notification bug or what not, I will personally give you 1 year of free hosting. Please provide your domain name so I can look into your issue.

As an update to this, we got a hold of the customer, his reference to "slow tickets" is that we took 12 hours to activate his new account (which we clearly say it can take up to 12 hours as we manually activate new accounts) it has nothing to do with technical support. He cancelled and asked for a refund which we gave him. I've asked him to update the thread with this following information because his reply is inaccurate and has nothing to do with "ticket support".

Which makes the claim of "downtime" entirely false, if the service was never even used. You've had 3-4 weird invalid complaints in the past 72 hours. Each one has been proven to be crap so far.

After considering my options, I went with CrocWeb. The deciding factor was that ClientExec was included. So far things are good. Support restored my cpanel backups and I got all my domains up over the span of a few hours. I did the moves at midnight and got to sleep by 4 am. CPanel is also faster than Site5. With Site5, it was slower to bring up WHM and other CPanel functions. Thanks, for everyone's input.

Nice, let us know how you like them in 90 days...

Thank you for the kind words. Agreed, that would be great. Last edited by CrocWeb; 01-03-2012 at 06:36 PM.
