DowntownHost Reseller Review - 3 Years Later

Posted by scamando, 12-29-2011, 04:07 PM
I am not a big poster around here ( I joined here in 07-01-2008 and never posted before), mostly because I do not have much to say. With that said, I think it is important to share honest reviews to help current and potential customers make the best decisions. I want to share my experience with Downtownhost.com with this community. I will make the following report fast and easy. OVERALL: I started out with Downtownhost in September 2008, more than 3 years ago. Overall, I have been HAPPY and IMPRESSED with Downtownhost.com and the awesome service and support that they offer. They are very fast to respond with email tickets, the average response time I would say is 5-10 minutes response and under 1 hour at the very very longest. The websites have always loaded fast and I have never experienced any "real" downtime. I would say, the average downtime is 5 minutes if a server ever became overloaded. However, if there was an issue, I would email them and they would fix this within 5 minutes, and I think that is GREAT. VALUE: Downtownhost.com is not as well known as some of the bigger and more marketed hosting companies out there. Their website is very simple with a basic layout. There is no flashy blog, no discussion area and does not appear to be engaged with social networking. However, with that said, Downtownhost is TRUE AND HONEST and they focus on their product. Their simple presence is something I can appreciate as they keep things very simple and easy and don't introduce any extra distractions. You need quality service and support at a good price and that's what they deliver, thats about it. WHERE TO IMPROVE: First off, their support is really awesome and it means alot to me that I can email them and they get back to me usually within 10 minutes. The two things I wish they would improve on is: 1. Give more detailed, thorough email answers so that beginners can understand better. When they answer my emails, they do a great job but they are very short and lack personable feeling and sometimes I have to write another email just to clarify the fist response. 2. Get rid of the phone number as I never get through to anyone. Their emailing is ridiculously fast and they should just focus on that. Their phone support does not represent the quality of support they offer. PRICING: You get a solid value with Downtownhost. It is hard to measure and grade and hosting provider pricing and packages. Most companies promise unrealistic amounts of space at a low price. But in the end, you get what you pay for. Downtownhost is not the cheapest provider and they do not offer the biggest packages, however with that said, they are TRUE AND HONEST. I have a 10gb reseller account and I have 60+ accounts and 9.4gbs of data on there and it is smooth sailing. Downtownhost offers realistic packages with realistic costs and delivers. WHEN IT MATTERS: The server that I was on for 3 years started to have issues recently. The server became overloaded with frequent downtimes over a month perioid of time. I contacted them, they kindly offered to move me to another server and I agreed. They moved me over and everything went smooth. They were helpful during the process and it made me feel confident that I was using them. Their support is truly 24/7 was emailing them back and forth every 5 minutes at 3:000am PST during the entire process. **My advice to anyone looking for reseller right now. Do not make price the number one deciding factor when choosing. Choose a reseller provider that is REALISTIC, that actually delivers what they advertise and that offers fast quality support. 4 Months down the line, when you have problems, you will be glad you chose quality over quantity, precision over price.** CONCLUSION: I give them TWO THUMBS UP. I can give my FULL RECOMMENDATION to Downtownhost as they offer a great product and customer support. I have been very happy with my experience with them and I am sure you will experience the same. Whoever you end up choosing, don't get too caught up in the "WOW" factor and pricing. Choose a company that offers a solid product and support. It's been a while since I've seen such a great, detailed and honest review. Thank you so much for posting this and I hope you'll be more active on the forums. We could use more posters like you. I'm curious to see how DowntownHost.com will respond to your excellent suggestions. It's been a while since I've seen such a great, detailed and honest review. If you click the report button at the top right of your post, it will securely and privately allow you to submit your domain for verification by the Moderators. I'm always in the market for a new reseller and I have to seriously re-consider DowntownHost ... I just wish they were cheaper. However I fully understand you get what you pay for. The problem is I want a Lexus for the price of a Toyota.

Ross, Jorge also runs Ninjalion.com. Maybe that one fits your pricing requirements better.
