what exactly do you mean? Not sure I understand the question. Support to who, you or your customer? and what do you mean by "in house"?

Yes it's important,you can start a hosting a company,by purchasing from a company that offers end-user support,but what I always suggest,Is that you should try as much to give support yourself.It keeps you in contact with your clients.

Personally I think its very important, especially if you are just starting out. Providing direct support not only insures a higher level of support (assuming you care about your business), but it also helps establish a more personal relationship with your clients (which I think is important).
