Best hosting Package

Posted by ADesign84, 07-28-2011, 08:10 AM
Hi, I am a graphic designer and i design websites in a small scale way, but i am in the process of making myself a small website deisgn business. I also have 3 personal sites that i need to host and ideally i want to be able to offer my clients hosting with their design package. As i am only just starting up i don't need a hardcore reseller package but i do want to have a package that means i can offer a years hosting and offer them their own control panel. It would be useful to also have the WHM software to manage the billing etc... for each account. Any advice on the best packages available taking into account value and features would be really helpful. I am open to advice on other package types that may help me get started and then i can upgrade features as my business expands. Most packages i have looked at that seem to suit me are about £15.00 p/m. thanks in advance for any help Alli thanks

Hi, I dont need much space to star wioth, the sites i build are currently about a couple of mb's each. 250-500mb would be ok to start. Bandwith, just a standard amount really, again, my clients are small local business in general so traffic is relativly low i guess UK servers as i ma in the UK domains, 10 to start with should cover things thanks for your help

I find that US hosting is very cheap and if you shop around you can usually find providers who have a decent performance to us back in the UK. I'm currently getting 100ms ping on a VPS so don't completely rule out US hosting as their market is very big.

My advice is to search for hosting in UK or in Europe generally. Ping times and accessibility is much better if the sites visitors come from Europe. I had my server in USA and when I moved to new server in UK, the client got enthousiastic with speed!

Thats a good point, some US hosting packages i came accross did seem alot cheaper, they offer the same features as UK based i suppose, and whats the key factor to look out for to make sure the performance for UK will be reasonable. thanks

First of all check the ping times. Less than 100 ms would be fine.

contact a few UK providers and ask them if they could supply you with a typical IP address of what you might get if you signup and ping them yourself from multiple locations. I normally use just-ping.com for this.

Hi for £15.00 month you should have no problems finding a new reseller account. FYI WHM/CPanel comes with Linux hosting which is a popular choice control panel. Have you taken a look at the reseller offers section too, some great deals in here.

In your case, I would start with a reseller hosting plan of 1 GB space and around 10 GB traffic, without any other limitations on number of accounts, emails, etc. If needed in the future, I would upgrade my hosting plan to more space and traffic.

Also ask for uptime stats of the server your account will be hosted on. If they can't just keep searching.
