Must have "clean" mail server.

I have gone through 3 of the locally listing reseller providers, and each seem to fail the email blacklist(ip) test. One moved me from one dirty ip to an even dirtier one. My client is a non-spam business that does not contribute to the problem. I must have clean email for a client! Who?

Hello,

Good question. It is a 2 - 3 man office that probably sends out 15 max per day, and probably receives 25 total per day. Currently has only 1 email address. Each is just a one page note about business. Nothing long and few attachements..

That's nothing wrt to mail volume; maybe go for a premium solution? Though realistically you should be able to get a clean ip no matter what you pay.

You might want to contact the company before purchasing and ask for the IP of the server that they will put you on so you can check it on the RBL's ahead of time. The better providers will monitor their IPs to make sure they are not on RBL's

How big are the providers that you checked? Providers having experiences in hosting would not leave a blacklist IP on their mail server.

The biggest problem you are facing is that you are on a shared environment. So even though when you signup you might have a clean IP, this could change very quickly as you have someone on the same server as you sending out emails and you get your IP included in the range and blacklisted. As mentioned above, contact your provider beforehand, ask them for a possible IP that you will be hosted on and check the quality of that. Ask them if they are able to switch your IP to another non-clean one if the existing one becomes blacklisted through no fault of yours, etc.

Thanks for the feedback. Are there 3rd party email service providers available? I'm now thinking to outsource the email issue and maybe get more perks for my clients. I'm thinking synched in/sent/outboxes using Outlook 2007...Clean ip's...etc. Maybe I need to open my eyes beyond 1995 hosting capabilities. What services are being offered? Who is offering?? thx rowdyplace

We started using an external SMTP service to increase our "Deliverability" rate. The biggest advantage to us is the fact that they are whitelisted with Major ISP's and include great tracking functions. We have tested these three: JangoSMTP SendGrid SocketLabs SocketLabs and Sendgrid are the best IMHO. I ended up with Sendgrid but really only because I got an advanced plan basically for free through a 3rd party and they automatically include an unsubscribe link (if you want to) which is nice since some of our automatically generated invoices and such do not have that. SocketLabs seems cleaner and easier to use though. The end result is that every e-mail gets through and does not end up in a spam folder which mean people actually get their invoices and so our income increases and support goes down. (I never received and invoice! Why did you suspend my account?)

You may just want to go with the free version of Google Apps for your emailing needs:- http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html

A new server with a dedicated ip address for about 15 dollars will do the job for you.

Thanks for all the good ideas. I selected a 3rd party provider that provides me managed incoming and outgoing mail servers. (Rackspace Hosting) Today's "Reseller Hosting" resellers have almost no way to keep their ip's clean. I selected two along with dedicated ip's, and still wound up having the problem after a few weeks. Mods - end the thread, and again, Thanks to all who came to my assistance. rowdyplaceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
