Always Web Hosting Down

Posted by public_front, 04-17-2009, 08:46 AM
Their site and mine have been down for the past 3 1/2 hours. No good.

Posted by adulu, 04-17-2009, 08:49 AM
3 1/2 hours= 3 days and a half day? how long their support response?

Posted by public_front, 04-17-2009, 08:52 AM
I still have not heard back from them. This is killing me as I need my site up for a meeting I'm having in 10 min. They use to be awesome, but I don't know what's going on over there lately.

Posted by net, 04-17-2009, 08:54 AM
Maybe they are just experiencing a problem in network or hardware? Did you try to contact them by any means already?

Posted by kevthegr8, 04-17-2009, 08:56 AM
Do they have a system where you get credited for downtime? Thats a lot of downtime Regards

Posted by public_front, 04-17-2009, 08:58 AM
@Net - yes I did, but you would think they would know the issue as their site is also down for the past 3 1/2 hours @Kevthegr8 - Paid for the year up front.

Posted by kevthegr8, 04-17-2009, 08:59 AM
Ahhh Make sure you fight for some sort of compensation for the crap downtime!

Posted by public_front, 04-17-2009, 09:06 AM
Odd things is that I am the first customer to mention this on the boards and on twitter. Then need to learn from this and get a twitter account or tumbler or something.

Posted by kevthegr8, 04-17-2009, 09:07 AM
LoL i am the same, need to get a twitter account i think - everyone seems to be getting into it

Posted by adulu, 04-17-2009, 09:09 AM
host and client site down in the same time. it's not usually, usually client site down the host still working fine.

Posted by kevthegr8, 04-17-2009, 09:11 AM
Hey Do you have a hosting package or actual server or VPS?

Posted by public_front, 04-17-2009, 09:46 AM
Now that my meeting is over it is back up of course ... 4 hours later. @kevthegr8 I don't know

Posted by adulu, 04-17-2009, 09:54 AM
4 hours seems not long time. give them more time.

Posted by kevthegr8, 04-17-2009, 09:54 AM
There you go - claim back a month hosting from them! Good work

Posted by txitcs, 04-17-2009, 09:56 AM
Wonder if they'll count it if he didn't get an email out to them immediately, or if they didn't get the email?

Posted by kevthegr8, 04-17-2009, 10:00 AM
If there going to give a guarantee of having 99.9% uptime and offer money back, well regardless how long it was it should be claimed. Your right tho, i wonder if they emailed all the clients because it could have been maintenance ... hmmm the joys of the internet LoL However 4 hours is a long time.

Uptime Monitoring might be a good investment

Posted by txitcs, 04-17-2009, 11:09 AM
Typically web hosts don't allow 3rd party uptime monitors to dictate their actual uptime, as there can be problems with that server's connection thus negatively influencing the host's actual uptime.

Posted by BinaryCanary, 04-17-2009, 11:15 AM
I guess thats a possibility, maybe for more or less a peace of mind thing then.

Posted by Jedito, 04-17-2009, 11:45 AM
If it was an electrical or any kind of network problem, is not covered, and since the main site and the hosted sites were down at the same time I tend to think that this was the case.

Posted by IGXHost, 04-17-2009, 11:55 AM
Maybe it's time to look for another host that offers a better uptime guarantee with an SLA?

Posted by kevthegr8, 04-17-2009, 11:57 AM
The thing is the OP has paid for a year...

Posted by Dustin B Cisneros, 04-17-2009, 11:59 AM
Nice, also they seem to be up now. Sorry you had to have downtime hopefully they stick to there policy and give you the month free.

Posted by MikeDVB, 04-17-2009, 02:12 PM
Ah, the classic case of the 99.9% uptime guarantee that only covers the client in very select specific cases that are very unlikely to occur. How else are you going to have downtime other than an electrical or network issue unless an administrator is just dumb and does something stupid on the server - and even then they could just say it was a power or networking issue. Their site imho looks like some flash template they found or obtained for $20 and modified and threw online which doesn't inspire confidence. You may want to look for a more reputable web host - I personally can recommend HostGator.

Posted by txitcs, 04-17-2009, 03:02 PM
Do you have a site with them?

Posted by IGXHost, 04-17-2009, 03:05 PM
Totally agreed with that.

Posted by Sean M, 04-17-2009, 03:05 PM
It appears odd when always new members with very few hosts say something good about a non well known company. What is the domain that you have hosted with them as said above?

Posted by Bonznumber1, 04-17-2009, 03:19 PM
yes i do www.billwales.com i actually have 2 accounts with them one is for ftp and the other is for my site

Posted by Martie, 04-17-2009, 04:16 PM
Whew! Responses like this remind me of why I dont frequent here much anymore, especially coming from a competitor. A design has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not a host is "reputable" If memory serves me correctly I think this co. has been around several years and I think Ronnie used to frequent these forums quite alot. My advice to the OP is to contact them directly and see what can be worked out. If you are not happy then look elsewhere. Too bad original topics get soooo OFF topic here.

Posted by txitcs, 04-17-2009, 04:23 PM
Lol, watch out Mike, Texas girls will get you everytime.

Posted by public_front, 04-20-2009, 10:18 AM
FTW is going on over there.....It's down again!!! just checked 4 of my sites. http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com This is where you make fun of me for staying there.

Posted by SaaSMX, 04-20-2009, 11:18 AM
As said above, talk to them and try to work it out, meanwhile, you can do a research for a new host just to have your backup options in case you can't work out the issue with your current host.

Posted by public_front, 04-22-2009, 05:47 AM
Well, I started the "try and work it out" route and was very happy with their solution to move us to a new server. Then my site went down again. Their site http://alwayswebhosting.com/ is up and my business suffers. Looking at other hosts now. Any suggestions?

Posted by jtellup, 04-22-2009, 06:10 AM
Maybe they are moving you?

Posted by RandyE, 04-22-2009, 06:34 AM
Is your domain registered with them or no? If so they may be in the process of moving you and the DNS is still propagating. Mike, watch out for them texas ladies. I'm married to one and have been around them all my life, they have this attitude about them where they rule the world. In Texas, this is true Especially San Anton women. Me and the mrs. are from that area and I can personally vouch for that. The thing is, for some reason, us Texas men think it's necessary to have a Texas woman, maybe because there are no women in the world as good as them? Actually, their feistyness is one of the best qualities they have. Not only that, we need them to keep us inline, otherwise I would never work and just ride my horse all day, and go rodeo

Posted by jtellup, 04-22-2009, 06:47 AM
Never lived in Texas, but my wife did for while when she was young, sounds like God's country, also sounds in the news like you guys have the last real Governor left. I'm stuck in Ohio, land of humidity and sinus, my hope is to relocate out west before I meet my maker.

Posted by public_front, 04-22-2009, 06:54 AM
Why would they move me and not tell me when they are moving me. Until I get a message saying they are done moving I am just going to chalk this up as more downtime.

Its a templatemonster template, looks like its been removed from the TM site but i have the same design on my pc.

Posted by Jedito, 04-22-2009, 01:59 PM
No, is not. I can't remember who designed their site at the time of when Ceonex were the hype.

Posted by RW-Steven, 04-22-2009, 02:14 PM
It most certainly is, the Template number was 3581. I have the full package, PSD files, fonts, the lot, as i bought it when it first appeared there (non exclusive). Theres quite a few results on google for it if you search for "Template Monster 3581" I wont link to them myself as a lot of them are warez.

Posted by Jedito, 04-22-2009, 02:24 PM
http://images.templatemonster.com/sc...500/3581-b.jpg You're right there, I was almost sure that it was a custom design, I remember that there was a thread about it here too.
