Security for dedicated server with windows 2008 r2 and Plesk
Posted by abbs, 09-06-2013, 04:50 AM | Hi Guys
I've recently purchased a new dedicated server from 100tb.com - I will be looking to leave a review but as its only been 3 days then I have not been able to see what the actual service is like.
If I was to give a review on the amount of issues I have had to get my server from them then they would get a very poor review indeed. Anyhow I see light at the end of the tunnel so want to push forwards with getting my server set up
I am currently with hostgator and they have everything set up for me - from the backups to the security of the server, its all done -
with 100tb then this is not the case - I am paying for supreme support. I have asked supreme support for their best advise to protect my server and they came back to me saying that I should have a better Plesk password and other then that a anti virus would be good but I would need to pay for it.
Can anyone please recommend a good anti virus - I have been doing some reading and can see that windows server 2008 don't really have any free anti viruses -
Is there anything else that I should setup for security and is there anything else that anyone can suggest to make the server as stable and secure as possible?
thanks
