Which version of Apache and PHP on cPanel are you using?

Posted by TechniSmart, 09-09-2013, 05:27 PM
I was adding a few PHP extensions to Apache 2.2.25 on cPanel, but EasyApache compile list offers Apache 2.4.6 without any mention that it is STABLE. Is it still experimental? Anyone using it? If so, what are the improvements? Is anyone using PHP 5.4 yet? Any improvements? Thanks.

I am using PHP 5.4.19, and Apache 2.4.6 (is it faster) without any problems, in production for some servers. Regards

Yup, running Apache 2.4.6 and PHP 5.4.19 too, everything works perfectly on our production servers. Apache 2.4 really takes less resources which is good.

Thanks for for replies. The upgrade to PHP 5.4.19 and Apache 2.4.6 went smoothly and it upped the security score in CSF by a few more points. I can attest it is faster running TYPO3, MODX and Joomla sites. Cheers!

Apache 2.4 is good but do hceck if all your scripts compatible with PHP 5.4

I agree Apache 2.4.6 uses less resources. Suhosin runs fine on it but is not compatible with PHP 5.4. Decided to downgrade PHP to 5.3 so I can run Suhosin 0.9.10 again. I am not happy using a deprecated release of PHP, so I would appreciate ideas how to harden when we are eventually forced to PHP 5.4 or even 5.5?

PHP5.4 is great on the latest Apache, but unfortunately if you had clients running VBulliten forums expect a few support tickets....For compatability best stick to latest Apache (Stable) and PHP5.3 with the usual PHP Hardening.

Apache version 2.2.25 PHP version 5.4.19 But the PHP version can be changed at any time with the Cloudlinux PHP Selector.

Suhosin isn't being coded for 5.4 as they have implemented the majority of what it does into this version, it simply closes bug's/exploits in 5.3 (Which are now closed thanks to the work of Suhosin in 5.4 builds).

What you say makes good sense, but did you see this documented anywhere? Last edited by TechniSmart; 09-10-2013 at 11:03 PM. Reason: typo
