anyone have experience with layered tech. I have a VPS with them and my site has been down for the last 8 hours or so. I called sales, since they don't have phone customer service and was told they had a power outage that they are working on.
I'm guessing it was a relay or something that went down, because I would have to imagine they have a battery backup.
Anyone have experience with their site going down with LT or another provided?
Any experience with LT?
Any chance of data loss? I have no backup- its all on the server
What sort of compensation should I expect for the downtime. I think LT has a 100% uptime guarantee

Never heard of them before but if they do offer a 100% uptime request for the refund ... what ever you get is good.

I recommend you take this experience as a lesson and build a backup strategy both off-server and off-network. Backup can make or break a business.

yeah - lesson learned
what are the chances of having data loss with a provider like layered. My site is not set up to produce any income so i can live with the it being down for a day or two.
With two yrs of content creation under my belt- I can not handle any data loss.
What measures to companies like layered take? do they have redundant servers in different locations? Do they do tape backups once a week?
Sorry for the questions- I am understandably very stressed at the moment

I doubt the whole layeredtech facility is down. if sound, it should be redundant at the network and infrastructure level but not at the node/distribution level.
Hopefully, your data is safe.

I've had no problems with the one server I have left with LT, it is in the Databank facility.
If you have service directly from LT and not a reseller (e.g. GridLayer), send them a support ticket and ask what the issue is.

I just used their encompass system- submitted a support ticket.
I checked the status of my server and it says "active" - it gives me the option to reboot- is their any danger in rebooting? could this resolve the issue. FYI- I can't access the cpanel or anything
thanks for everyone's response

Your web site is down and you start a thread titled "Layered Tech Datacenter Down". Honestly, you're a hosts' worst nightmare. You have no idea what could possibly be going on, and you've just started a thread which could possibly be indexed by a search engine and become a negative thread for that host, while it could very well be possible that only your server was affected.

Hello,
I am the channel manager at Layered Tech. Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with in regards to your servers. There were issues at DataBank yesterday. You can find the information at ltstatusdotcom.
Regards,
