Posted by fredesere, 08-14-2009, 02:08 PM
Hey Guys, what are your top 3 best priced reseller hosting that give you much more than you pay for i.e. the cheapest but reasonably reliable ? I need such a service because I will be offering free hosting so the more i can get for a cheaper price the better! also Instant activation would be a plus Cheers Guys!

Well, this all depends on your requirements and disk space. Do you know how much disk/bandwidth you'll need? If not, what about your budget?

Posted by fredesere, 08-14-2009, 02:31 PM
My budget is maximum 20$ and really I want the maximum I can get for that, I noticed one site offers 1TB bandwidth but its 25$ which is above my budget so im really looking for the best i can get with that budget .. Cheers Pal !

I would suggest not focusing on the maximum quantity but on maximum quality. While this is somewhat relative, depending on who you ask, there are several well known resellers out there that offer a mix of quantity and quality. You aren't going to get 1TB of bandwidth for $20 with a reliable provider and you likely won't get any useful extras such as a Clientexec or, preferably, a WHMCS license to use for billing, account creation and support desk. All of these things are necessary if you are going to be successful as a reseller. If you see a host offering similar specs, I would personally be extremely wary of them. With all of that said, I would check out Innohosting. I have used them for almost 2 years and have had excellent success. They currently have an offer over in the offers forum giving a free upgrade that would net you 15gb of disk space and 250gb of bandwidth for $19.95/month. They specialize in reseller hosting and include a free license for billing/management software, free legal documents and hosting templates, as well as support for your users. I'm sure you'll find hosts that offer more in the way of disk space and bandwidth for the same price but I can almost assure you that none of those companies have near the reputation that Innohosting does.

Another tip: make sure the host you pick does allow you to provide free hosting; many providers have a clause in their TOS which tells you this is not acceptable. (mainly due the fact that free hosting often bring a lot of 'administrative' work with it ) Last edited by 040Hosting; 08-14-2009 at 02:48 PM. Reason: typo

Yea, i fully understand what you mean, the thing is thou that im not considering starting a hosting business for profit, I want to offer free hosting to people to help build my brand name so would i need to have the same quality as would be required by paid customers or would the quantity matter more ? Cheers

Posted by 040Hosting, 08-14-2009, 02:58 PM
That might indeed make a difference, although i would read the TOS of the host you choose carefully and when in doubt contact them before signing up; you do not want to buy something you later are not allowed to use. If you use this to build your brand i would advise you to look for quality; especially if the goal is to build your brand well; its your name on the line.

Hmm thats true, ild definitely look more into your advice, thanks a lot sir

20$/year or a month? $25/year for 1TB bandwidth does not sound feasible, and sounds very oversold. You can find good affordable resellers, but I advise against deciding mainly based on how much space/bandwidth is advertised and at what price.

Posted by fredesere, 08-14-2009, 03:22 PM
Not per year, per month my bad

Posted by ItsJustHosting, 08-14-2009, 04:00 PM
Well then that's a very generous budget, and while it means you have a ton of options, the higher priced ones are not necessarily better.

Posted by fredesere, 08-14-2009, 04:06 PM
Yea, well im really just going for the most i can get for that price, the value of the hosting is of importance to me but not of too much importance .. any suggestions ?

You could try HostGator, their reseller start at $25/mo. But honestly if I were you, with that high a budget, I would just go for a VPS.

Posted by KMyers, 08-14-2009, 04:59 PM
I am pretty Sure that HostGator does not permit "Free" hosting or "Post-to-host" style hosting. If I were you, I would contact several hosts to see if they will permit this. Most hosts that oversell will not allow free hosting.

Were you planning on offering full-featured free hosting, or free hosting as a subdomain/subfolder of a parent site?

Posted by fredesere, 08-14-2009, 06:00 PM
Im considering full featured free hosting and in exchange they would create posts and topics for my site to help generate content, I would go for a VPN but I don't know the first thing about managing it, im a fast learner thou .

You can go to resellerpanel.com. They have a cPanel reseller program within your budget. In the program you would set the costs and the packages. If you want to make them free that is your choice.

Who will be paying for the domain name?

Posted by fredesere, 08-14-2009, 07:03 PM
The domain would be provided by them we intend just to offer free hosting

Posted by Collabora, 08-14-2009, 07:15 PM
So I guess your only problem would be to verify that they posted that stuff about you on their site? That's going to be tough one. What I do is offer the free hosting with domain registration (or transfer/renewal). The hosting is full-featured with email and a text ad is placed above the web page with links back to me (system provisions this automatically)

Posted by fredesere, 08-14-2009, 07:26 PM
Hmm, I think it can be done based on points, if they acumulate a number of points their hosting account will be functional

Posted by ldcdc, 08-14-2009, 07:41 PM
Hmm... let's say $25 for 1TB of data transfer. A decent server surely prices at least $200. I won't even add customer support prices etc. With these figures, there must be at least 8 accounts on the server for the host to break even. Let's round it up to 10 considering a small profit. This means that there will be 10TB allocated to that $200 server, which given the price can't be a very powerful one. Does this sort of allocation make sense, especially as we're talking about reseller hosting where actual usage tends to be higher than in shared hosting? Personally, I rather doubt it. If we use real world numbers where there must be significantly more accounts on that server to cover the prices in the long run, the scenario looks even worse.

Posted by fredesere, 08-14-2009, 07:48 PM
That confused me lol

Posted by ldcdc, 08-14-2009, 08:04 PM
OK, I'll put it in fewer words then. It's a bit like trying to find a great car, 400HP, at say... under $500.

Posted by fredesere, 08-14-2009, 08:11 PM
Lol, would a vps be better for the purpose then ?

Posted by Honey Bear, 08-14-2009, 09:46 PM
for a free host, you would probably be better with a VPS. These guys, Photon VPS, seem to have a lot of good reviews on here but I do not have any personal experience with them. They do offer many different VPS starting at $11/month.

Posted by fredesere, 08-15-2009, 02:32 AM
You are right, I think ild rather go for a managed VPS, ive started another thread for VPS just to broaden my choices, heres the url : http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...52#post6340252 Thanks for your help sir

well i suggest you buy server and collocate it if you have that option, i have done this and found it cheapest solution to provide concurent services.

Posted by fredesere, 08-15-2009, 01:56 PM
Buy a server ? you mean an actual server ?

Posted by KMyers, 08-15-2009, 02:00 PM
I think Co location is overkill for that one

Posted by fredesere, 08-15-2009, 02:08 PM
Im a bit confused, could you please be a bit clearer ? thanks

Posted by KMyers, 08-15-2009, 02:16 PM
For what you need a VPS or Non-Oversold Reseller (with permission) will be enough, They are advising a fully dedicated server for you. Since you are starting off I would not go with a dedicated server.

Posted by fredesere, 08-15-2009, 02:20 PM
Yea, they seem to have ignored what i said about trying to minimize prices and get the best service i can for what i got or around there either how still appreciate the advice thanks people

Posted by KMyers, 08-15-2009, 02:22 PM
I would advise you to look for a standard reseller then,. contact several hosts via Live Chat / Ticket to see if they will permit free hosting.

Posted by fredesere, 08-15-2009, 02:29 PM
Naa I don't want reseller, its not worth it for my package and I would realy want my own dns name and i would want it branded for reseller that would be really xpensive ..

Hello,

Posted by omnicool, 08-15-2009, 04:46 PM
To establish a site used for free hosting; I seriously doubt that you can find a reseller hosting that will allow you to give away hosting for free at the cost of their service. Having said that even though you could get a VPS to serve your needs keep in mind that you have to be sure that the VPS provider know exactly what you want to do with the VPS so that you get no problems with their TOS. You could get an offshore server to lessen your worries or email/chat/submit ticket to your potential provider. Look at what their response will be and how much time it took for them to respond to you inquiry. Anyway, my advise is to go with a VPS and then grow to a dedicated when your income allows it.

Posted by fredesere, 08-15-2009, 04:53 PM
Hello Sir, Thanks for the advice. did you read the start post by any chance ? Thanks

Posted by omnicool, 08-15-2009, 05:30 PM
Yes I did, thats why I gave you the advise about free hosting. And regarding the host which you asked for; quite frankly I only know a few resellers who would allow free hosting but they are offshore so I don't know if you will want their services. But I do know that most VPS provider allow you to do mostly anything with your VPS. Especially if its legal and Free hosting is definitely within the scope of legal. Like santrex or netlinehost, the market is flooded with these kinds of offers. It really all just depend on what/how much you need. And on what budget you actually have.
