| Posted by db09, 08-14-2009, 02:42 PM | | I would suggest not focusing on the maximum quantity but on maximum quality. While this is somewhat relative, depending on who you ask, there are several well known resellers out there that offer a mix of quantity and quality.
You aren't going to get 1TB of bandwidth for $20 with a reliable provider and you likely won't get any useful extras such as a Clientexec or, preferably, a WHMCS license to use for billing, account creation and support desk. All of these things are necessary if you are going to be successful as a reseller. If you see a host offering similar specs, I would personally be extremely wary of them.
With all of that said, I would check out Innohosting. I have used them for almost 2 years and have had excellent success. They currently have an offer over in the offers forum giving a free upgrade that would net you 15gb of disk space and 250gb of bandwidth for $19.95/month.
They specialize in reseller hosting and include a free license for billing/management software, free legal documents and hosting templates, as well as support for your users.
I'm sure you'll find hosts that offer more in the way of disk space and bandwidth for the same price but I can almost assure you that none of those companies have near the reputation that Innohosting does.

(mainly due the fact that free hosting often bring a lot of 'administrative' work with it )

If you use this to build your brand i would advise you to look for quality; especially if the goal is to build your brand well; its your name on the line.

I won't even add customer support prices etc. With these figures, there must be at least 8 accounts on the server for the host to break even. Let's round it up to 10 considering a small profit. This means that there will be 10TB allocated to that $200 server, which given the price can't be a very powerful one.
Does this sort of allocation make sense, especially as we're talking about reseller hosting where actual usage tends to be higher than in shared hosting? Personally, I rather doubt it. If we use real world numbers where there must be significantly more accounts on that server to cover the prices in the long run, the scenario looks even worse.

Having said that even though you could get a VPS to serve your needs keep in mind that you have to be sure that the VPS provider know exactly what you want to do with the VPS so that you get no problems with their TOS. You could get an offshore server to lessen your worries or email/chat/submit ticket to your potential provider. Look at what their response will be and how much time it took for them to respond to you inquiry. Anyway, my advise is to go with a VPS and then grow to a dedicated when your income allows it.

And regarding the host which you asked for; quite frankly I only know a few resellers who would allow free hosting but they are offshore so I don't know if you will want their services. But I do know that most VPS provider allow you to do mostly anything with your VPS. Especially if its legal and Free hosting is definitely within the scope of legal. Like santrex or netlinehost, the market is flooded with these kinds of offers. It really all just depend on what/how much you need. And on what budget you actually have.
