I am reselller hosting from JAGUARPC I want to request IPs for these sites (1) abc.cn (2) leene.net (3) efes.com (4) 90ene.com -------------------------------------------------------- But they reply for this: 2009-04-06/21:27:06 Hi longs, We need a justification for each IP before we can allocate the IP addresses as required by ARIN. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you. Best regards, Nick Olinek Technical Support Representative JaguarPC.com -------------------------------------------------------- I reply: Because the Chinese government sometimes blocks shared IP, so they want to use an Dedicated IP, so they can guarantee the normal operation of the web, thanks -------------------------------------------------------------- But they reply for this: 2009-04-06/23:31:15 Hi longs, That reason would not satisfy ARIN. The Chinese government blocks shared IP addresses that also host content they wish to censor. We can assign you your own reseller IP address which would only be shared among your clients. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you. Best regards, Nick Olinek Technical Support Representative JaguarPC.com ----------------------------------------------- and I reply for this: 2009-04-07/01:07:14 Apart from an Dedicated IP virtual host can enable the web to improve the performance of network security, there is also an important function, that is conducive to search engine has included, as an Dedicated IP to increase the weight of the web, search engines to crawl more easily to the web page, beneficial to have the website promotion and online marketing,My english is pool,I only can say abaut this, please reply me as soon as possible! and waitting relpy from JPC Who can tell me how can request IPS for client account from JPC, or give me a request IPS justification! This will always vary from host to host. If I'm not wrong, ARIN should be able to provide up to 16 IPs without justification.

With IP's becoming less and less in supply, it's vital for hosts to be responsible in their allocation of IP addresses. Unless you have a functional business need for a dedicated IP (i.e. your site will not function at all without it), then you don't need an IP.. Needing an SSL would be good justification since they won't function without it.

From what I understand, this is a myth. There is absolutely no correlation whatsoever between dedicated IP's and SEO. Google and other search engines have mentioned this many times. See this thread: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=852143 The only reason you would need a dedicated IP for SEO is if you were trying to artificially manipulate search results, which may get your sites penalized at some point in the future. Not a good idea. If you want your site to rank well in search engines, just make it a quality, informative site that other sites would legitimately want to link to. As for China, it blocks lots of sites at some point for any number of reasons, dedicated IP or not. If you want to make sure your site is always on line in China, it will need to be hosted IN China, and not violate any of their rules.

usually the hosts need arin justification if you are requesting IPs from different classes, but I've never had to deal with this when you don't care what class it comes from.

Fair enough, all providers can have their own rules for all sorts of reasons. But maybe that's what the customer should be told, not the ARIN related justification.
