Have I been hacked?

Posted by FRADDRHosting, 01-10-2013, 05:15 PM
I've been receiving countless amounts of traffic all day targeting my login systems and administration systems, my website is now down? By down I mean it's going straight to "This web page is not available", it came back and went again. Thank you.

What sort of hosting do you have?

Reseller Hosting with EZPZ, all seems to be well now though.

In such a case I would contact the host. They should be able to tell more.

Make sure your mod_Sec rules are competent to block attacks through web. Also check the accounts for malware.

looks like you are under some kind of brute force attack. You need to have a good firewall in place.

It sounds like you are targeted by brute force attacks, someone is trying you guess your password/login combination. I would suggest fine tuning your iptables firewall(ask your host for that ), and add captcha to login forms( you can do that by yourself ). also, if you would like to limit the access to a page, you may use .htaccess to block the offending scanners.

Since you are on a shared reseller account, you will have to contact your hosting provider to check the security level of their server to avoid this kind of attacks.
