ultrahosting / onx down?

Posted by Xandrios, 04-17-2009, 12:34 AM
Seems that they are down at the moment. Are others experiencing the same issue? Their website works, but a ticket is not being created when I send an email. Their phone seems to be dead as well. When I call their parent company (onx.com / momentum) i get something like "due to technical difficulties we are unable to route your call. Whats going on? hmm... my machine was down as well... i dialed the 800 number on their website and it wasnt working either. so i dialed a number i found in my original order email. this was at like 2am EST bear in mind... and I got an answer right away. apparently there was a hardware issue with my machine (loose power cord). although its strange that would happen at the exact same time they are having an overall outage? i dunno... i have had no issues with them for the last year or so however. perhaps the guy i called just noticed the network issue now or something. my machine still isnt up and im waiting to hear back.

Apparently there was a defective switch. They've replaced it and everything is working now. I think there was just a combination of issues with my machine directly, and the switch, which kinda confused them. Anyway no harm done.... still happy with ultrahosting.

I think more was going on. My server just popped back, but has an uptime of a few hours. Where was it the past hours...apparently it was running but not reachable. So I had both power and network issues too.. Plus their email support did not create a new ticket...no response at all. That is not what im used from them. And indeed their phones did not work. Would you mind sharing the number that worked for you? Was it by any chance xxxxxxxx-6124? Thanks Last edited by Xandrios; 04-17-2009 at 04:15 AM.

Hmm...very odd. I haven't really had any downtime with them to date (at least, none that I've noticed), so if something had happened I would rather just hear the full story from them. I wouldn't have been particularly upset, considering they fixed the problem pretty quickly, and since it happened well outside normal business hours. Perhaps it was a combination of a power and network issues.... who knows. When I was with PEER1 it was the same thing - very little downtime. However the odd occasion where it did happen they would provide a very detailed post-mortem report, detailing what happened, how they fixed it, and how they would prevent it from happening in the future. This always put me at ease and gave me a lot of confidence in them. Anyway the number I used was 905-xxx-xx11. PM me if you want the full number.

Thanks, PM sent This is a reply i received today: So it was definitely not just a lose powercord. Overall im quite happy with them though, have been with them for over an year and this was the first real outage. And the deal im getting is still incredible.
