OpenVZ/SolusVM templates suddenly not syncing

Posted by Johnny Cache, 01-11-2013, 11:17 PM
Evening- This evening I was doing some housekeeping and clearing out some templates which I'd disabled either because they were EOL or simply unused. I then created a new template on a fresh cPanel 11.34 DNS-only installation. I checked back on it a half hour later. Seems that the template build process is hanging on one of the slaves at sync time - no errors that I've spotted yet, and the template itself looks to create just fine on the node where I built the original VM, so the master is doing it's job and kicking off the process, but it never finishes (attachment 01) Attachment 02 shows the template on the build node, and attachment 03 is on the master with a 0b file size. So part of the sync is doing it's job, just not all the way. The only thing I can see so far that's unusual is that my other templates are owned by root/solusvm. This one is owned by root/root - possibly since it "technically" hasn't been completed yet, and not the case with permissions on the other templates I'm running in production. /vz/template and /vz/template/cache show the same permissions, uid and gid on my three slaves. I can't perform a media sync from SolusVM because there's technically no template there. I've had to move it from the CLI manually. Any ideas on what might have started this? I've made no recent system changes or adjustments in production, and I successfully created and synchronized a template on 12/28, according to the time stamp. I'll keep looking for an answer but would certainly welcome any suggestions. Thanks!! -John Attached Thumbnails       Last edited by Johnny Cache; 01-11-2013 at 11:21 PM. Reason: Spelling :)

While researching it looks more like an issue with SSL and perhaps lighttpd. Attachment 04 shows that it's trying to pull the template from the slave in question but is either horribly slow or not at all. I checked the lighttpd error log but the SSL error (attachment 5) doesn't tell me much. I compared my lighttpd.conf with an identical environment, different DC, and the files appear to match. Looks like I'll have to escalate this to Soluslabs, but am still open to suggestion if any. Thanks again. edit: this error is repeating on the master lighttp error logs.
