Posted by gwxweb, 02-18-2008, 08:08 PM | I was disgusted by this hosting. They are definately not what they supposedly used to be. I was with them for a month or so, but my account and all servers seemed to have been hacked daily, and sites would be down, even after numerous password changes like they suggested. I moved hosts today, thank god, and I will not be going with fatnetwork.net anymore.

Were the hackers able to root the entire server on a daily basis or were they able to gain entry only to individual accounts through PHP vulnerabilities, weak passwords, etc?
Getting a server rooted daily is frankly unheard of. For the legal sake of FatNetwork, I hope they put together a good indeminification clause in their TOS.

Chances are it was a big fat gaping hole in someones script hosted on the server.
On a side note: many moons ago I had an account with them and I experienced all manners of problems with them.
The servers don't seem secured very well - poor set-up

Posted by encoderX, 02-26-2008, 05:38 PM | Was it for partial month (or similar) charge?
Did you get any confirmation from FatNetwork of cancellation?

Posted by hyptonic, 03-11-2008, 11:45 PM | topic is a bit old but I thought it was a good one to address my experience.
I hosted with fatnetwork for about a 1.5 years. The first few months i was with them i received excellent service, no downtime, no problems. Then they said they were moving servers and since that point all i had was a bad experience. My site was always down, the server was always crashing hard drives, ram, etc. finally i was fed up with this company and i asked for my refund of the payment i had made a few days later and they declined the refund, and removed my account so i lost tons of files. One month later I was billed again for some odd reason and paypal okayed it so i lost another payment in which they would not refund.
Overall do not host with fatnetwork.

Their uptime doesn't look good recently.

Posted by albundie, 06-01-2008, 10:41 PM | Late reply, but valid nevertheless. Let me sign in on FatNetWork naysayers. I've been with them for quite some time and, as Hyptonic stated, they were a good host for hobby webmasters.
Lately, however, my sites and those of my clients have been hacked on a daily basis. I hired 2 coders from getacoder to lock up all the sites. They did their best; but really couldn't find any holes in the scripts.
Thus, the hacking continues. I emailed the president of the company, Rick Orford, for his input into this issue. Naturally, he never replied.
And, so, what was once a decent host has become an absolute nightmare.
I'm now in the process of moving a boat-load of accounts to another host that has secure servers.
Live and learn.
