Need end user support

Posted by SydneyJen, 01-16-2008, 12:50 PM
I want to move to a host who provides end user support, I've read mixed reviews on a few and I am undecided. My friend is with one place that offers end user support, but they have not replied to my emails so I am not going to go with them. Looking to spend less than $25 a month and I need 3GB of space, not sure on bandwidth. I have cpanel now so I suppose I have to stick with cpanel to get my web sites moved without a problem. I welcome any suggestions and recommendations. I'd like to move soon.

Are you looking for shared or reseller hosting? If you are looking for reseller hosting, I think innohosting and resellerzoom does provide end user support to your clients.

You can't really get shared hosting with end user support

Posted by SydneyJen, 01-16-2008, 01:26 PM
Yes reseller hosting, sorry I wasn't clear.

Resellerzoom looks good, but they don't have a help desk. Maybe I don't need a helpdesk. Are there others that offer a helpdesk? Do you think its necessary?

I suggest you have a look at InnoHosting.com They too offer end user support and if am not wrong they do have an helpdesk also. Last edited by Mikey this way!; 01-16-2008 at 01:55 PM. Reason: typo

Thank you I will have a look at what they offer now!

You can use use snail mail! Postal Address (Official Registered Office) - For non urgent situations InnoHosting Dowsefield Lane, Liverpool, Merseyside L18 3JG United Kingdom Response times for postal mail can take up to 2 weeks. Please do not use this for emergencies. That made me chuckle.

With ResellerZoom you have to pipe your support emails to RZ support staff to get end user support, unfortunately this makes it very difficult to keep track of tickets and to find out what problems your customers are having. With InnoHosting (I haven't used the Helpdesk myself though) you can view the responses that IH support staff are giving your customers, which overall makes for a better management experience. Also RZ only offer end-user technical support, IH I believe offer end-user sales support too...

They indeed have a helpdesk - you could drop sales an email for more info. I have not used their end user support, but I can see in their forums that resellers can login into their helpdesk and view/reply the tickets if they like. They have also some posts how to possibly integrate your system with theirs (from other clients).

Are you talking about RZ there? I thought they simply piped in emails instead rather than provide a helpdesk? Hehe, believe it or not, we are being serious. You would be surprised at what some people assume That is indeed correct. We do supply a helpdesk software which was developed in-house by ourselves

A few months ago they rolled out the feature so the resellers can login into their system.

There aren't a lot of choices for end user support. I've narrowed down to two, but I can't decide. Are there any other hosting providers who provide end user support in addition to the ones mentioned here?

Posted by Mikey this way!, 01-17-2008, 05:25 AM
Which two have you narrowed down to?

Resellerzoom.com and ihubnet.com I was considering webkore.net because my friend is there, but they have not answered my presale question email unless they didn't get it, maybe I should write them again.

Hmmm... Well I was with ResellerZoom for about 8 months. I had no issues with them. Servers were fast and stable - atleast mine. Support was also good. Don't know about their End User Support though. I was on their Budget Plans. I've just filled in a Cancellation Form with them today. Well, am leaving them because I got a better deal from InnoHosting.com Don't know anything about ihubnet.com and webkore.net If they are not answering your pre-sales questions, I wouldn't even be thinking about them. Anyway - Good luck!

assuming your know for sure that they've received your message. Email is not foolproof. It would be a real shame to delete a host from your shortlist as a result of a simple failure to actually establish contact.

Well you may be right. But, can we assume that if an email is not bounced back it is either delivered or caught as spam? It won't vanish will it?

Out of ihubnet and resellerzoom. I would choose the more reputable resellerzoom. That decision is based simply upon is all i see is ihubnet spam posting (in my opinion). I think a company that resorts to those practices is hardly worthy and not a company I would trust my business with. Also, ihubnet is a new company, so its early days before we see some true reviews and not just false short review from posters that have 1 post and post a review. So I would suggest resellerzoom as they have been around longer and are more established.. I sent a few presales question to them, and i got a very delayed reply. But i dont think sales is a priority department. As others have mentioned, innohosting is also a good choice too. They seem to be better than others. But it looks like they arent on your shortlist.. I actually gave them a call (seems like they have just started it), to ask about their domain reseller. I was very surprised at how helpful they were. That is the only experience I have with the above two. I don't have or ever had an account with either, but I am in the same position as you, and still looking for a company too (for quite a while!) I hope my input is of some use

Delayed response from RZ Sales could be bcoz, AFAIK their Sales/Billing is only between Office hours. May be there are in a different Time zone. I've just signed up with Inno couple of days back. So far everything is fine/good.

Posted by JLHC, 01-22-2008, 11:23 AM
Glad to hear that. Please post your review about them in a few months time.

You can't assume anything - life does not work that way. Assuming e-mails sent are delivered & recieved, causes problems. Assuming e-mails have not been sent, because you did not recieve them , causes problems. I'd even say assuming my assumptions are correct [or incorrect] is also a bad assumption. - -

Sure. I'll definately do that.

As far as I am concerned whenever I've sent emails they have been received by the Recipients and when they send it to me I have received it. Only once did Gmail put an incoming mail wrongly into Spam Folder. LOL

They do provide help desk for resellers to check the status of tickets

I didn't know you could get shared hosting without end user support. Are there hosting companies out there that do not provide technical support services?

Posted by rv_irl, 01-29-2008, 05:09 AM
You have misinterpreted what end user support means. End user support is not providing support directly to the customer, but that of the clients of the customer. Providing support directly to the customer is just providing support.. It's always important to read the thread in full rather than sig flashing, you never know what vital information you may miss

Posted by Brian-de-vie, 01-29-2008, 12:15 PM
As an example I could recommend a Bra for support ! but having read the thread in full I know you can't provide Bras to your clients customers, you don't know there sizes !

Yep Brian, a very valid point..
