Apache threads - watching a video

Posted by kshazad86, 10-11-2012, 10:55 AM
I have a user on my shared server who generates over 50 Apache threads by simply watching a .mp4 video on their website. Is there any way this can be reduced? and why does Apache create so many threads from the same IP address for watching a video? Note: I'm running a cPanel server.

There must be many other URLs, images and other references in the same URL that must be causing the threads, which is common anyway.

Nope, its the same file (mp4) that is showing up in many threads. At the moment the 'KeepAlive' variable is turned off, would it help if I enabled this in the Apache config file?

Is it a VPS (Linux GUI)? How much RAM has the VPS got?

Nope its a dedicated server and memory is not an issue.

Problem is still re-occuring with or without KeepAlive enabled. Any ideas how I can tweak Apache so that is does use so many threads for streaming a video from a single location?
