I use Hostnine for my reseller account

Posted by mclanea, 01-05-2008, 11:57 PM
I got into reseller hosting as a way to boost the bottom line for my online community. In looking around I came across some good ratings for Hostnine and decided to check them out. I had never set-up a reseller account, so I was a total rookie and made all sorts of mistakes. Honestly, if their live customer service chat hadn't been so helpful I would have quit. 10 months later, I still have a high opinion of hostnine. Their support is helpful and their uptime to high. Most important... my hosting company is profitable and I have happy clients. Adam

Can you please provide a domain name you have hosted with them for verification. If you don't want to make it public, just report your post with the domain name included. Good to see your happy with your host!

BTW, I run a forum with 1300 members... I know what it's like to be cautious of new people. Spammers are the enemy! Adam

Oh. Welcome to WHT by the way! It seems that your website is "Temporarily" offline.

Really I've not had any problems with them. I've read some horror stories on various forums and I wonder if those are user related. Every time I've had trouble, their customer support has figured it out pretty quickly. Even when I was installing modern bill (a disaster of a program to install) they were quite helpful. Adam

Sorry about that. It must have just been my computer or connection. Its all working now. I think Hostnine offer WHMCS now. You should use it instead. WHMCS is a much nicer and user friendly program. Its got heaps of fantastic features and there support (Matt) is always very helpful. Its also got a lot of support here at WHT. Last edited by TimothyH; 01-06-2008 at 02:56 AM.

I remember when they said they will stand firm behind ModernBill and not offer anything else as they claimed everything else is inferior.. I guess they found out they were wrong..

It's not about being wrong at all. Back when HostNine first started we felt Modernbill was the best solution for our resellers based off of the experience we've had with V4 (Keep in mind that was over a year ago and mainly compared to billing software like ClientExec, WHMAP, etc). Everyone knows as time goes on things can change and that's exactly what happened. HostNine is all about providing our customers with what works for them. Over the past few months we noticed more and more complaints about the Modernbill setup and functionality so we did what we had to do.

Congrates on changing! Its the best choice you could have made. WHMCS is fantastic.

They are doing an install of it now on my account. They are doing it all for me... which I totally dig. ModernBill was terrible to install and awful IMO. Sure, it worked but it was so picky. I hope this new thing is a little easier to work with. And I hope it doesn't randomly email my clients and tell them to pay when they already had. Adam

It seems H9 are doing a few things for their customers at the moment, which is great as far as I'm concerned. WHMCS and free webspace/transfer upgrades to all accounts. Hopefully this is the news we hear about them for a while and the more recent stability concinues. -Tim
