I am using cPanel/WHM dedicated server and I want to know how I can stop my users from opening more than 3 simultaneous FTP connections at the same time? Note: I am using Pure-ftp FTP server

There is an option in the FTP Configuration in WHM that sets the maximum connections overall or one for connections per IP. You can find it under Server Configuration / FTP Server Configuration.

Thanks, I found this setting and have changed it to 3, I think this will do the trick: The only question I have is if someone is downloading say large number of small files, e.g. 1000 each at 100Kb in size, then I have noticed high number of connections being generated. Is there a way you can force to use existing connection instead of opening a new connection for each new file? Is there some time limit before an FTP connection is closed?

The MaxClientsPerIP setting should take care of that if I understand you correctly. You can do some tests on your own on larger files via FTP download and see how it goes.

For your information, you can set the number of files and quota size, users can upload from etc/pure-ftpd.conf. The following will limit the number of files the user can upload to 30000 and size to 1GB. Code: Quota 30000:1024
