Where your clients are exactly trying to login and receive this error? In cPanel? You should check Apache error logs /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log for more detailed information about 500 Internal Server error.

Adding further. Have you recently updated cPanel via upcp?

Check cPanel error logs at /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log and see if displays you anything about webmail error.

To check the status of the ‘tailwatchd’ service and it’s output, execute Driver (Active: 1) Cpanel::TailWatch::ChkServd tailwatchd is enabled Running, PID 24463 Driver (Active: 1) Cpanel::TailWatch::cPBandwd Driver (Active: 1) Cpanel::TailWatch::Antirelayd Driver (Active: 1) Cpanel::TailWatch::Eximstats Restart the ‘cpanel’ service once, just to make sure it’s online and if you still face problem then update “cPanel” on the server

A forceful update of cpanel should fix the issue normally /scripts/upcp --force
