Searching for a reseller host...

Posted by nbradfish, 04-28-2007, 09:26 PM
Hi, I've been scanning the forums here and various web host directories for a couple of hours and have gotten nowhere on my decision to find a reseller. I would appreciate some help... I am currently hosted with HostGator, and I would like to move to a host that allows me to give my hosted accounts a control panel. I would move to a HostGator reseller plan, but the cost is $25 a month. A quick side note, I have nothing but praise for HostGator, I have had no problems with them thus far. My Requirements - Around $160/170 per year (will pay annually) - cPanel & WHM - 10 GB disk space, 50 GB bandwidth (flexible) - Host unlimited domains - PHP 4 & 5, Python, Ruby on Rails, Perl - Unlimited MySQL databases, POP3 and FTP accounts - Fast and reliable Thanks in advance, Nick Bradfish Last edited by nbradfish; 04-28-2007 at 09:36 PM.

Hi Nick, Since you are pleased with HostGator, why don't pay monthly instead yearly. Host some friends and relatives to cover your fees. Moving to a new host may influence your stability and happiness. ResellerZoom might meet your requirements, only I don't know if they have Ruby on Rails. Hope it helps. Regards,

25 is too much for you? I hope not.

I agree Dan. Im not real sure what hostgator offers as far as reseller accounts but if its $25 for so many accounts, I sure dont see a gripe. Whew!

If budget is the only issue you have with hostgator then i would suggest increase your budget abit

HG is well priced, if hosting is too cheap, the hosting never performs well as its likely the host will over fill the servers.

I recommend you what go away from too cheap hosting providers if you want to get a good service. I don't believe what you can find a reliable reseller hosting under $20/month. Good luck.

You can find reliable reseller hosting for under $20/month. Just look at Reseller Zoom! They are great for under $20.00/mo Anyways, For what i recommend is checking of Reseller offer forums to see if you can get a deal before you buy! Also send in a few pre-sales emails to see how well they get back to you. Search before you buy aswell! Good Luck!

As others have stated, if you're happy with HG increase your budget and switch to monthly billing.

If I recall correctly, Hostgator used to have a smaller reseller package at ~$15 (that they've never advertised on their website). Contact their sales department and see if it's still available. Good luck!

I agree with everybody on this thread, if you're happy with HG, just increase your budget, it will worth it at the end, think if you end on a horrible host just to save a few bucks?

Don't charge your friends or family members for hosting

I've got multi accounts with hosting zoom, and I'm sure they don't have ruby...though it's something I believe they are looking into.

Looking for a quality reseller hosting plan for under $20 is not unreasonable, just harder to find.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have contacted HostGator's sales department and they do offer an unadvertised reseller package, so I will be staying with them. Regards, Nick
