reliablesite.net, thoughts?

Posted by lightasair, 02-28-2007, 10:13 PM
I am thinking about switching over to reliablesite.net for a reseller account. I really like the fully customizable plan that they have. I read one review here that said great things about them based on four months of experience. Has anyone else hosted with them before? The one thing that I hesitate about is not have phone support. However, their email response time has been really great, with indepth responses. Thank you for any feedback.

They don't seem to have every many reviews about them on these forums - where did you find them?

I read about them here and read some posts and replies from someone who has their address in their footer.

Do they provide reseller hosting? Did you see their company information(address, telephone... etc.). I could not see anything on their simple site. I recommend what you work with more popular and a reliable company. You can find them on WHT. Good luck.

Just because a company isn't popular makes them unreliable, huh?

How would you know anything about their reliability? FYI, I use them for a VM in addition to shared hosting for a personal project, and have been thoroughly impressed with the reliability to the extent that I have not heard of a host on WHT with better uptime, especially not a "popular" host.

Well, really important things you may be leaving out of your response are: Popular here is not the entire internet. Its webhostingtalk.com. A popular forum, most likely made up of more "hosts" than "host-seekers." Many, manyyyy hosts are flavor of the month one month, and by the next month, completely gone. Do some searching on such threads. As a matter of fact, no news here can mean "good news" Its known that clients WILL complain, more than praise so keep that in mind. Heck, Ive been a member here for years yet we have little feedback here compared to some.

Just curious whether you have any experience with us to question our reliability? There are several reviews here of customers with first hand experience.

I've several Unix hosted web sites, but want to take advantage of ASP.NET. After weeks of researching a Windows hosting provider, I decided to give Reliablesite a try. Virtually every hosting company I considered had either too many or too little "features" for their various plans. While cost isn't the primary criteria, I didn't want to spend money on things I didn't need. I'd be willing to pay a little extra for the right plan with the right support and reliability (no pun intended), but wasn't attracted to anything I'd seen or heard of. I learned of Reliablesite in this forum and found their custom hosting options provided what I was looking for. I have only been with them for a few weeks, so I don't have a lot of experience to share. A couple of things though are worht noting. 1) Not a lot of bells and whistles. Things like BBS, guestbook, etc. need to be uploaded and or installed by the user. I think this is fairly common for Windows hosting? 2) Not much documentation or on-line support materials. They have a knowledge base, but it isn't too mature. 3) There support desk is VERY responsive. They have courteously walked me through a couple of issues recently. One would think it would be more productive for them to have better documentation to free up the support people. Bottom line - the jury is still out. Given I've not found another hosting service to meet my needs, and the willingness of their support desk, I'm going to continue trying to work with them. If all goes well, I'll eventually move my Unix sites.

What domain do you have hosted with them?

Posted by MrRadic, 03-04-2007, 10:41 PM
We have the capability to use 1-click installers, but choose not to use them due to software getting out-dated very quickly. Also, our support plans offer free installs of any script by our support guys. Just let us know what you need installed and we'll take care of it in a timely fashion. We only keep common issues documented. Every customer has his or her own needs, and they appreciate a specific response to his or her own issues. Full documentation on every product is available by request. This is something we're very proud of Just let us know whatever else you need and we'll take care of you.

In some cases it pays more to go with a non popular hosting provider. They most likley will offer higher quality 1 on 1 support with their customers for a short time. Until they get larger and larger. When you host with a company that has 20,000+ customes that outsources their support and offers low level phone support with knuckle heads reading from a Knowlage base. I much rather stick with a unpopular but good quality service hosting provider!

Thank you all for your thoughts. After having been with a couple big hosting providers I am really interested in switching to a smaller provider with quick, personalized support. From my experience so far (20 minute average response time to emails) this seems to be what reliablesite.net is offering. I will let you know how it goes and appreciate everyone's feedback.
