Looking for a Reseller Plan

Posted by mjurgemeyer, 01-30-2007, 02:01 PM
I haven't been satisfied with my hosting company for the last year, and since my term is about to end, I'm ready to make a switch. I've been trying to find a reliable host with a good reseller plan over the last week. The companies I've been researching the most are Site5, HostNine and Reseller Zoom. The negative comments about Site5 have scared me away a bit, and I'm leaning towards HostNine. Does anyone have any other suggested hosts to add to my list to research. My requirements: At least 5GB of space 100GB Bandwidth Multiple CPanel, or the equivalent, accounts Private Nameservers Unlimited domains (pointers) Budget: $30/month

No additional hosts to recommend, but I am quite happy with hostnine.

It's good to hear more positive feedback on HostNine. I just spoke with Dan from ServerTag, and they seem like a good option too.

KingNomar, could you tell us a domain you have hosted with re-seller.org? You can post it here or send it to the helpdesk via the post Report button. This is a standard question we ask to verify that comments about hosts are from people who have first-hand experience with them. Thanks! Lois

Have you tried a google search? Also did you try the support response times yet? Always remember to check that.

If you even come across a host that you feel may fit your needs, it's worth looking into it and at least doing a simple search here @ WHT to see if any reviews come up. Once you have compiled a list (which you have already started to do), you can research each host individually to see which one really would work best for you. It looks like you already have a good start and good luck finding a reseller host!

I have a reseller with www.scc-solutions.co.uk I must say, Amazing! Great speeds, uptime, and the works. I host www.perplexhost.com with them.

All of those companies have uptime statistics posted at www.webhostingstuff.com/. Have you checked out that site yet?

No, I haven't taken a look at that site yet. It looks like a good resource. Thanks!

I think he mentioned that in the requirements, makes sense to read the entire thread before posting

Our previous hosting company is Site5. Their services was good. But it got bad. The uptime of their servers which at Liquidweb datacenter is good. But others too bad. Their support response time is too long. You can find better hosting companies by reading the reviews on WHT. Good luck.

I strongly recommend Preferred-Hosting. I have been with them since they started (over 2 years) and am very pleased with uptime, support, costs, and service.

Before you go and sign up with any hosting first do a simple check: - Where do you expect your clients or customers to be from (geographically speaking) - if its international then it really does not matter unless 80% of traffic is from US then I suggest only US servers at this stage. - Check out the hosting servers ping responses - How is their servers coping with traffic - sometimes having too many websites hosted on one computer can create a bottleneck specially if there are few busy websites on that partcular server (these days the computers are well stocked and its not an issue) - Check out how many hops there are from where you are and from different locations around the intternet. THese are preliminary things one needs to keep in mind. The best servers to go are the ones around the mid US - which are central to most of continental America and the rest of the world. The above are just the basic requirements I go through when I choose hosting companies. Also, if you're designer like me then you will need to look for server closer to you that provide a good response. It's no good recommending the best server in UK while you're in Australia or America and it's certainly not on for someone in UK to go with servers in Australia unless they have business there as well.
