Forced Ads by Reseller

Posted by Fahad_1, 12-13-2006, 09:54 AM
Hello, I am a reseller, and I provide free web hosting as well. I wanted to know is there any way how I can put forced ads to selected accounts? Thanks.

mod_layout will do this. Or, you can use a script such as iPanel or Multihoster. I would suggest checking out http://www.freewht.com for more info.

Sorry, I cannot help you too much with that question. I've never (personally) done it myself, so hopefully someone who has can step in now. (hint, hint, guys!)

I would also be interested in finding more out about mod_layout

mod_layout requires root access to the server, in order to configure it. Try this: http://f-jh.no-ip.org:81/main/viewfi...wnload&file=24 Last edited by VPSHelp; 12-26-2006 at 12:58 PM.

yes mod_layout requires root access. There are a few reseller providers that will allow you to install ipanel and they have mod_layout already installed. But i think they charge a bit higher costs for there accounts. As for not having root access there is not a decent way to get this accomplished. As for multihoster to this date we have not found anyone that was able to get the ads feature working. There is one peson on fwht that has a method of using htaccess files but your users can delete this from there accounts which will remove the ads from there sites.

I was able to get the ads working in Multihoster. What are your troubles? Perhaps I can help.

The users cannot delete an .htaccess file, if they do not have permissions to do so. Change the permissions via ssh to the reseller, and not the user.

You can check out freewebhostingtalk.com for more information about forcing ads and managing free clients.

While looking at your error, have you configured/modified your config.php ?
