InterServer Teb2 Status Update

Posted by JonnyQuags, 04-03-2009, 10:08 PM
This is a status update for the InterServer Teb2 datacenter problems from today. During our generator test at our Teb2 facility one of the UPS's had a fault and the servers connected to it lost power affecting a portion of the datacenter. We regularly schedule generator tests on full load at least once a month. We understand that no downtime acceptable and are already investigating UPS fault under our ups maintenance contract. If there are any remaining issues please open up a ticket by emailing support@interserver.net or calling 1-877-566-8398 or pm me.

As an update this UPS that had issues on Friday is having issues today. Our contacted UPS technicians are en-route now to re-examine the UPS again. I will update as more information comes.

As of 7:15 the UPS maintenance team has brought the UPS out of bypass. On careful inspection of each battery one was found to have a lower voltage than the others. Up to 6 batteries can be chained out of this particular UPS model for our current load. This one has been taken out leaving all others. The battery taken out will be replaced tomorrow. According to the company the low voltage on one battery caused the other in the chain to overcompensate dumping the entire load. After the battery replacement tomorrow a load tester will be used to simulate a full load on the UPS before being given the all clear.
