500 internal error after update template

@MOD: Not sure this is a right thread for this section, if not please move to appropriate.
I keep getting 500 internal error after i update my template. Look like there are many user on my site at the same times, however when i check my Google Analytics, everything look normal. I don't know why it show many user on my site when there are not a lots of them. Also when i put my old template back everything back to normal (no more 500 internal error).
so what cause this problem?

tail -f /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log
while accessing the page on the browser.

It would also be useful to know what you are running. You havent said if it is Linux/Windows and what software you are running on it e.g. Apache/IIS... Wordpress/Joomla... we are assuming that you are running a *nix box!
