Is it safe to allow ClamAV to delete files?

A ClamAV scan has found a number of infected files in different client email accounts. Is it safe to have ClamAV to remove this files? Has ClamAV ever been wrong? Thanks, Kristy

I've found that ClamAV on Windows does pick up false positives. I can't comment much about ClamAV on Linux though. I wouldn't just set it to automatically remove infected files.

Configuring Clamav to delete the detected files is not a good idea, instead of that you can set it to quarantine those files and remove them manually.
