Register.com Nameservers Down?

Posted by HighCommit, 04-01-2009, 03:34 PM
Can't get to register.com and all my domains using their nameservers will not resolve. First time I've ever had a problem with them in all my years of hosting. Can anyone confirm?

Seems they are down. Not loading from my end too.

Can you get to register.com? It won't come up for me and I have had clients call who use the register.com nameservers saying they can't access their site.

Alertra shows them down at the moment, i think there is another thread about this somewhere.

That's why I can't access either then.

Yet another post about register.com... They didn't send any notification mails about maintenance or anything. I wonder what's going on with them...

Looks like they are bringing it back up slowly.

There's another thread about this as well.

I'd recommend adding another link to this forum under Web Hosting Main forums. It's not entirely intuitive that it would be under the advertising section.

Posted by QuickNDeadly, 04-01-2009, 04:54 PM
they are back.

Well my signature says it all. I gave up after CTRL-F "down" Many Register.com nameservers. Still can't resolve my domains. There must be a lot of sites experiencing problems...

Hyperspin shows them as up: http://www.hyperspin.com/quicktest.p...=253897&r=2943

only their domain is up, oddly with no info about the ongoing outage. their DNS servers still failing to give DNs pointers for domains bought from them: * dns119.b.register.com returned (SERVFAIL) * dns193.a.register.com returned (SERVFAIL) * dns223.c.register.com returned (SERVFAIL) * dns249.d.register.com returned (SERVFAIL)

Setting up some serverbeach nameservers, however, I can't get access to register.com long enough to point them to the new servers =/ pretty screwed up over there

I'm not able to access them at present.

"We are experiencing a severe internal systems outage. Our technical department is working on the same and will get this issue resolved at the earliest" dissapointed they haven't even put a note on thee website. they told me they have no status page online!

I opened in firefox a blank page at first, then refreshed firefox and got a standard page. Then I opened Internet Explorer and got this http://www.register.com/titan/index.rcmx? which is a totally different theme layout for there homepage? But then in Internet Explorer I deleted the titan/index.rcmx and loaded the same page that firefox loaded after that refresh?

Worked for a while now its screwed up again.

too bad we havent moved all of our domains over to our own dns server yet. Either way their support is about useless. Where is everyone moving to? Godaddy or Enom?

It's down again?

Posted by HighCommit, 04-03-2009, 02:00 PM
It's reported they're suffering a massive DDoS attack but it's not confirmed. Still having issues with them. It's hard to imagine what else it could be to still be having such issues.

Thanks HC, just read the article. Now it makes more sense. I better go search for good hosting alternatives.

It is a DDoS, I've received notice of it through e-mail from them, so it's confirmed. Friday: Today: Last edited by diligent; 04-04-2009 at 06:06 PM.
