Cannot access website sometimes (www vs. non-www)

Posted by hanime, 06-29-2011, 02:05 PM
I have CentOS 5.5 server and hosting a couple of domains on there using DirectAdmin (v1.23.2). I notice a problem only on one of the domains. Sometimes, I cannot access the website via http://www.mydomain.com and I can access it via http://mydomain.com. And vice-versa. This problem has been happening more than once or twice a day and I am stumped where to begin troubleshooting. Please advice! Thanks.

My apologies, the DirectAdmin version is actually the latest 1.39.1. I was looking at the wrong thing earlier. The domain in question is hanime dot net. Attached is the /var/log/httpd/error_log. Attached Files log.txt (5.5 KB, 79 views)

Hello, Both domains (www and none www) pointing to the same IP and I can access it with no problems. What's the error when you 'cannot access'? Have you tried to access from different PC, clear cache on your web browser. Do you also use HTTPS, your Apache error log indicating SSL certificate issue, it looks like you have self signed certificate and its hostname is not matching the actual server name

I get the "page not found" error on FireFox and Google Chrome when it is not available. Also did a ping on the non-working domain (e.g. [www dot hanime dot net]) when that happened and there was no reply from the server. Tried [hanime dot net] and it was getting replies from ping. Removing browser cache did not help, and it is appearing the same on other computers I have as well. My server does not use HTTPS. I've read on those errors and it appears those are just warnings, not anything to serious that may affect this.

Hello, I can ping both domains from different locations and all is fine. Try to access from difrent location if you have that possibility. - assuming you are using Windows try to flush DNS entries. What's the output of the nslookup command?
