Godaddy's reseller plan

Posted by R-Anderson, 01-25-2006, 03:31 PM
Hello again. I've looked into some reseller plans and have found the best hosting offered is godaddy's reseller plan (5gb's and 250GB bandwidth for $3.15!!) it's just i've searched on this forum and found some good but mainly bad things about godaddy. I also have some questions about this reseller plan, for example, i went to a site that has this, but when i want to buy a product i get redirected to another site (securepayments.net or something) i want to keep it under my own domain, is this alowed using there plans? Also, is it worth it? I would like to hear some feedback on some people who have the basic reseller plan to ask how much profit they actualy earn, and details like is it any good. Also i would like to hear the bad details as well. Is this package any good for someone just starting in the hosting business? Thanks, i'm looking forward to the replys.

Personally i never used godaddy but many people use their service. I would suggest looking more around on this forum or other forum before going with one company, specially when your starting.

Well... I have been looking around for a week, and if i want to make the most sales then the godaddy reseller is best for me. For example: You offer a package of 700mb's and 60GB's of bandwidth all for $17.95 per month. This is an EXTREAMLY large amount seeing as i can get 5GB's space and 250GB's bandwidth for only $3.15 per month from godaddy! The customers i will be trying to get to buy my hosting will need space and bandwidth, for example, your largest plan (the one mentioned above, with the 60GB's of bandwidth) would not be appealing to any of my potentual customers, seeing as it's overpriced and an imagehost can use 20GB's per day. Where as godaddy offers 1TB of bandwidth and 20GB's of space for $19.99. This is what i do not understand.

Tip: look at the pricing of dedicated servers at Godaddy. Then compare them to the shared hosting plans. Something looks screwy? I bet it does, considering dedicated servers should be the "bulk hosting" and thus cheaper per unit of data transfer and space. Thus I suggest you look more carefully into the product you're thinking of reselling. At least you should know what it is really made of. Over-Overselling = lots of thin air!

I'd also look carefully at their support network. As the following questions: 1. Do they have an active and responsive forum? 2. Is there a phone or live chat option that has reasonable wait times and competent staff? 3. How long are folks having to wait when special requests are made? 4. Do they use an industry-standard control panel? The axiom "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" holds a particular kernal of truth and a total lack of positive reviews is a bad as a whole bunch of negative ones...

I've heard from several people that godaddys hosting is not very good... however, on the flipside, I hear there domain registration is a breeze and very very affordable. I've seen a few ads from them on TV in the past as well... so they sound like they are a very good "Domain" company. Not so sure about the hosting part... at least from what friends/co-workers have said..

I believe you may be wrong as far as the resellers go. I may be wrong as well . I called there sales staff before asking someone about the reseller (I can't remember well - it was a pretty good call as a matter of fact) and the plans you see on there are the plans you can resell. The get the difference between the price they have listed, and the price you charge. I believe there resellers are through WildWebDomains which is another division of GoDaddy. You can see more details here https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/wwd_l...se=%2B&ci=3303 - Apparently there cheapest reseller is $99.00 (per year, which is a GREAT for what you can offer) and you can sell Hosting, Domains, SSL, and basically anything that GoDaddy.com sells. Cheers,

As ldcdc stated above, you're going to be on some massively oversold servers. Do I really need to say what happens with excessive overselling?
