Posted by AnmolTech, 12-23-2005, 05:26 PM
I need some other hosts comparable to jodohost. I thought of host gator reseller acct but the end user support was imp to me. Jodohost offers ticketbased end user support. I need to compare jodohost to a few others. Pl recommend me ones that have been around thanks

If you had a particular host in mind, you could always purchase end user support seperately from a 3rd party support company...Just another option

ResellerZoom offers it

I looked at some of them but they turned out to be expensive. Especially for someone like me who is just starting out in the business . anyway thanks for reminding me of that option

I have considered reseller zoom , but i feel they dont quite fall into the 'category' of say a hostgator or a jodohost. They are on my list but not at the top. Thanks though -- i will look them up again

are you looking for dedicated online support ?

Posted by AnmolTech, 12-23-2005, 09:50 PM
dedicated: sort of -- as long as technical aspects are taken care of by trouble tickets. Which reminds me of a very imp q: maybe i should make a seperate thread for it. What sort of questions will customers of web hosting generally ask in trouble tickets? thanks

The most common troube tickets we get are : Email, FTP, MySQL...others are pretty rare.

WK-Anthony is right about the common tickets - but one that is responsible for almost half of what we get are DNS related. :-) 80/20 rule works wonders! Cheers, Roj

i would like more elaboration on the points mentioned above. DNS realted----- pl explain.

we have managed to reduced our trouble tickets by providing customers with common knowledgebase such as FTP information, DNS info, Mail configurations, and many other, where 90% customer find the answers themselves easily and instantly. And for rest 10% can directly talk to customer executive online immediately And this is the reason providing great customer support. Because when you get busy with your 90% customer answering their common question you are loosing your time and keeping other 10% genuine customer queries on hold. So this is upto a hosting company how they want to utilize their customer support efficiently...

For example DNS changes (pointing abc123.site.com to 12.34.5.6)

Well, the real issue is that DNS propagation is not the easiest concept to understand nor that it takes time for the propagation to occur. Further, name server issues (such as the way custom name servers operate in the case of resellers) can be cloudy and hard to understand as well so tickets do show up in these cases. While Knowledge Base entries do cut down, many don't venture into that area and do just submit tickets instead. :-) Roj

What do you mean by hostgator or jodohost category?

Posted by AnmolTech, 12-26-2005, 02:14 PM
WN-Ali hostgator and jodohost have more positive reviews here than any other.Especially hostgator has been around for a while. The 'others' are relatively new.

Both Jodohost and Hostgator are of similar ages. They're not "new kids on the block", but they're not among the oldest hosting companies either.

Resellerspanel.com also offers the sort of end user support that you're looking for.

Is Resellerspanel.com good? They have 15 GB webspace for $ 40.00 annually.. Isnt that too cheap?

I'd consider that price to be particularly cheap! Roj
