Apache performance issue on VPS

Posted by darkspace_co, 05-13-2011, 03:52 AM
Hello, I would like to ask for some advise regarding performance/configuration issue on my VPS. I'm running joomla website. I performed some Apache benchmarks and results were not to good so I decided to create another VPS on the same host, I copied all the configuration settings for apache, Mysql etc. I restore same website and it's much faster. The original VPS has even more resources (4GB of RAM) the one for the testing purpose has only 512 RAM. Any ideas where is the problem here. Both VPSs have the same software version (PHP, MySQL). They are based on CentOS 5.6 I also tried Lighttpd on the new VPS as I though that there is something wrong with Apache but then I also check Apcahe and results were similar to Lighttpd so there is definitely something wrong with main VPS. Regards

What benchmarks? Perhaps the first VPS is on a more heavily loaded node?

Both VPSs are on the same node. I have run Apache benchmark (ab -n 100 -c 10 http://domain.com) however I also checked on the http://loadimpact.com/ website and when I run this test on the original VPS I couldn't access my website (with only 10 connections from this test) where on the lab VPS everything was fine during this test and I even run Apache benchmark at the same time. - hopefully re-installation is not the only solution here.
