Recommend a newbie friendly reseller host

Posted by newrhodes, 11-26-2005, 10:45 AM
Hi Would like to start with a reseller package. I am not planning to sell hosting, this is for own sites, but am getting then developed by a couple of developers. Was advised by the developers that it would be advisable to get a reseller package to be able to provide independent access to specific sites + be able to control the space / bandwidth etc. as the number of sites increase. Since I'll need to provide admin / webmaster access to specific sites where partners would be helping out, this recommendation makes sense. Initial requirements will be small but hope to grow. I'm looking for recommendations of hosts offering reseller packages who are newbie friendly i.e. have online tutorials / information, good support (chat / telephone / email), reliable servers and uptime with guarantees. Pl. note - I am NOT asking for offers - I am looking for recommendations from other users who have found their host to be newbie friendly. Thanks for your time, and best wishes.

I would imagine all resellers have helpful tutorials?

Or online/phone support.

Not necessarily newbie friendly. Most resellers do have some generic tutorials, but these aren't updated as often as the software updates. In some cases, the actual procedures differ a little from the tutorial - for someone experienced it's probably a matter of seconds to figure it out, but for a newbie it's more. I do realise that the best way to learn is from experience, and do try to google before pestering the provider for answers - but there are differences in degree of the tutorials / support system, and thought I'd look for recommendations from users here to identify the more "easy-to-use" providers. Yep - they offer it. But click on live chat and get a message that "chat is offline - please submit a ticket" - or call and be told "I'll get the admin to email you back later" isn't newbie friendly. Especially when you're just starting off, have limited time, and aren't an expert webmaster. Also - realised that I missed this out - I'm looking for Linux / Cpanel / Fantastico / WHM based packages only. While I'm sure other combinations may be as good or better, am restricting my learning to one combo at a time. Thanks for your responses - looking forward to recommendations. Best wishes

I realize your not looking for anything other than cPanel, but I'd still suggest for you to look at CartikaHosting.com's packages - they're very reasonable and offer good, comprehensive support via phone / e-mail (tickets). I've been with them a few months and have 0 complaints at all.

2 of the hosts you may want to consider (both Canadian - which may or may not matter) www.digitallyjustified.com www.monsterhosting.ca Both are high caliber cpanel hosts and both go the extra mile to help their clients throughout the process....

Also - realised from reading another thread here that I need to clarify more. I'm the reseller. But I'm also the end customer. As a reseller, I'm normally expected to provide support for my customers. But if I as a customer have a problem, I as a reseller won't have a solution. So what I'm looking for is : a reseller host who makes it easy to provide support to end customers. Maybe even provides it directly. Or has a good tools / tutorials etc. to simplify the job for a newbie reseller - to the point where the newbie doesn't have to add anything to the mix, to provide support.

Thanks - will check them out. Have a great day.

Most hosting companies will treat the resellers (as a customers) problems as direct support, as long as they are not supporting 3rd parties.

You may be intrested in this http://resellerzoom.com/budget-reseller.shtml Yes it is very cheap but it is good for a beginner (cough cough* me)

Check out dotable.com Can't exactly remember how long I have been with them for but should be about half a year. Staff is friendly, uptime, stability and speed is great. 100% sure they'll fit you perfectly. Besides, they cater to the multiple domain market and not the true reselling market, meaning you fit in perfectly

Thanks for all your suggestions. Resellerzoom seems to be a good option to me - reading through their info on the website as well as the reviews here, looks to be what I'm looking for. Will be checking further before final decision end of this week, so other suggestions still welcome.
