Posted by hardjoko, 11-23-2005, 07:59 AM | Hi,
Is there a script where people can upload or download files to my websites?
Something like rapidshare.com.
I got 1200G bandwith I want to waste.
Also, what happen if some ******* upload child porn? Do I have to watch the script regularly?

What else are good ways to waste that 1200G bandiwth?

Anything placed on your server, you are responsable for.

Posted by hardjoko, 11-25-2005, 09:03 PM | I am concern if I allow people to freely upload or download files, they put child porn or copyrighted material there. I mean the server has many other important domains that produce a lot of money.

Have you considered simply adding a few more paying customers to that server (since you seem to have bandwith and CPU to burn) ?
I just dont see why you would risk any performance or uptime to paid customers just to burn through bandwith ???

Personally, I didn't think of huge packages like the linux distros are.

Posted by hardjoko, 11-27-2005, 10:29 PM | Yea, I have 1200 G bandwith per month, I use like 10G per month.
I mean, I would love to put hentai cartoon or movie there but it would violate copy right right
What about movies whose copyright has expired?

Posted by cartika-andrew, 11-27-2005, 10:38 PM | Fair enough, but, there original question was:
If youre just making scripts available for download, thats one thing - but, allowing people to upload files, etc - can certainly cause issues...
I just dont think the risk is worth it on a business server...
obviously its there server, so, their choice..
Just my $0.02

Those would be really old movies. If I recall correctly, copyright lasts for close to 100 years.
