Posted by ezinger, 11-26-2005, 01:07 PM
I had a chat with goody and was enquiring about their cpanel and their response was rather blunt. i was trying to ask what version of cpanel they were using and he kept saying for me to refer cpanel.net which has been down lately and as i make this post(well at least for me) anyway i need opinions. maybe i could be wrong and hes right. http://altelite.org/goodydomains@hotmail.com.txt

I dont think this demonstrate the quality of service. Post is irrelevant. I would feel safe having a provider with such response. But that's me.

latest versions are the following cPanel 10.8.1-R3 WHM 10.8.0

How do you figure that? I think it shows at least something when a provider cannot reply to a simple question with a proper answer. He asked what version they were using, not what the newest version was. And even if it happened that they were using EDGE, referring to another website instead of a 20 second reply is not what I would call a great response.

Thank you for the feedback everyone. This post is one person's inability to deal with our policies toward racist material. His screen name when the conversation was engaged "...Jews are leeches" was inappropriate as far as we were concerned. Whether or not he actually intended to use our services for racist material was not important. As per our Terms of Service, we reserve the right to deny service to anyone at our discretion. And in the service representatives discretion this person represented a plausible threat to the integrity of our services. The service representative decided then that this individual would not receive our services, and therefore did not need to know our specifications. Unfortunately this individual finds it humorous to smear our services, thereby wasting everyone's time; as this issue was discussed, explained, and resolved in the discussion in question, this post was unnecessary. Thank you again. If there are any questions please let us know.

I also wouldn't assist anyone with the username of "jews are leeches LOL". They're shown the door quick smart.

jews are leeches" - Michael Jackson, if you ever read the news that is. and i already rectified my statement of my intention of use. so either you deny me as my religion or you are a racists yourself. i still find it amusing to deny a customer by his screen name...

Not sure what to say. He should of thought his action before he spoke. Some people do things in real life then they would on the internet. He judged you to fast.

Im not sure you can say that - Im not Jewish - but, I still found that offensive... All I can say for certainty, is I wouldnt be impressed with someone having that screen name - and if 1 of my staff simply disconnected that person, nothing more would be said on my part.... This is business - and professionalism is the most important thing... Just as customers look for companies that represent themselves professional - companies (at least the good ones) - look for the same. We pride ourselves on the fact we will not just accept "any" customer - and although it doesnt appear this prospective client meant anything harmful by their screen name - its certainly enough to raise some red flags - I just dont think anyone can be expected to be taken seriously or treated with any sort of professional courtesy, when they present themselves in a potential racist manner.... just my $0.02

I second that, forgot the golden rule about two sides to everything . Actually had a very similar occurance to this not long ago.

Iv dealt with corporate companies myself and this is by far absurb. Even the corporate people knows how to take a cynical matter. Goodydomains isnt a corporate company definitely. Iv also talked to a staff in rackspace and never found me to be a racists or whatsover and infact they were even kind enough to call me. First talk about comprimising and understanding because you are almost clueless about professionalism. I could accept e-mails as more professional than instant messages. "jews are leeches LOL" isnt my username for that matter and i use it as a quote from Michael Jackson. Needless to say but comical

Comical as you may think it is, the following still holds true: 1. I find it offensive, lyric, joke, etc... aside, I still find it offensive and I personally would have denied you service on that basis right there. 2. GoodyDomains may not be a "corporate company" but that: 2a. Does not mean they have to accept you as a client. 2b. Would say by default that they would _not_ act in the same manner as these "corporate companies" you have dealt with in the past. What makes you thinkt hey should?

Next time you deal with "corporate companies", be sure to have a "jews are leeches LOL" T-shirt on. Let's see what happens then.
