Support

Hi, I was just wondering, as a reseller, what kind of support is generally dealt with? Since all server problems, like downtime, are dealt with by who you are buying your hosting from, what does a reseller need to be prepared to deal with? I'm considering getting hosting from resellerzoom and they are offering End User Support, which appears to free you of any technical support problems. I'm considering then on providing website support as my niche, unless there is more support with the hosting than I am aware of. Thanks

Dealing with websites can be time consuming, so you'd better price your hosting appropriately and/or carefully define "website support". By pricing appropriately I mean for you to consider whether you'd be able to hire anyone to do that job further down the line when the business grows. Many start by selling themselves cheap, and as a consequence their business faces problems growing past a particular point.

Usually, resellers take care of thier clients. You answer all of thier questions and do whatever is needed. However, most hosting companies O(that you are reselling for or at) will either do support on your behalf, or at the very least, answer any questions or issues that your customers have via you. In other words, those issues you can not answer or handloe yourself, you take to your host company.

Website and application support are an excellent "niche" Pay certain attention to this statement by Dan - website and application support are alot more involved then simple hosting and hosting support - ensure you build in the appropriate price structure to accomodate. Even if you opt for a reseller package that includes end user support, this rarely will cover website support for your end users...
